Turning LED Pods on when unlocking the truck

In process of getting LED pods for the roof rack...and other then turning them on/off with a switch while riding, I'm looking for them to come on for a little while as you hit the unlock button on the remote so the whole area is lit when we're trying to get into the truck.

Hooking it to the marker lights will cause then to come on whenever the lights are on even while driving.

Plus when you hit unlock now, the marker lights only stay on for what seems like 2 seconds which is useless.

Ideas?

I've done this with my rack lights. I have a rock light positioned in the handles on my Sherpa rack over each door. I tapped the dome switch in the drivers side interior A panel. There is a harness behind where a grab handle would be that is negatively switched. It comes on when you unlock or open any door.

Be aware the wiring color codes changed in 2020 so many of the writeups you find reference the prior years color codes

Use a relay and tap the trip side to something that comes on when you unlock the truck.

You could use a second relay to also have switch control of the pods too.

Thanks for the info!
Any idea how to extend the time the dome stays on? I haven't seen it in techstream

Turning LED Pods on when unlocking the truck

I installed the meso puddle lights as well as the puddle lights switch kit.

Normal operation, the puddles turn on when Unlocking the truck. But the switch allows you to manually turn it on anytime or switch to auto mode.

Another cool feature is you can trigger the switch to your reverse lights too.

For your case, you can wire the switch to any other light as well. So it can auto turn on when unlocking and or manually switch on anytime.
