Question Automatic high beams - anyway to adjust sensitivity?

The auto high beams in my 2020 TrailRD Off Road are a touch too sensitive. Reflective highway signs are enough to trigger the high beams off. Is there any way to make adjust the sensitivity?

Look in your owners manual under "Customizable Features". Most Toyotas have a "light sensor sensitivity" customizable feature.

I don't think this would affect the automatic high beams since they use the safety sense sensors.

However, page 233 does state:

Temporarily lowering sensor sensitivity
The sensitivity of the sensor can be temporarily lowered.
Turn the engine switch off while the following conditions are met.
• The headlight switch is in or .
• The headlight switch lever is in the high beam position.
• Automatic High Beam switch is on.
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key
system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system).
Within 60 seconds after , repeat pulling the headlight switch lever to the
original position then pushing it to the high beam position quickly 10 times,
then leave the lever in the high beam position.
If the sensitivity is changed, the Automatic High Beam indicator will turn on
and off 3 times.
Automatic High Beam (headlights) may turn on even when the vehicle is
stopped.

Check pages 545-548

Check pages 545-548

There looks to be settings in there relevant to your question. I got here because the shadow of a bridge will put the truck in night mode making the dash/screen etc pretty unusably dark.

The next gremlin is after it does night mode and comes back to day mode, the darkness of the cabin temperature settings stay dark. Annoying.

Hmm, I need to look into this to, my 20 model auto high beam sensitivity is too low and typically blinds people before it finally changes. I never use it now. Its a nice feature if it works. Had it on my last car (mercedes) an it worked great.
