Several Questions - 2021 Venture Edition

I'm about to trade-in my '15 4RL for a '21 Venture Edition and had a few random questions:

1. How well does the auto high-beam sensors work? To put the question more bluntly, am I going to hate that feature? I'm worried I'm going to hate it. I couldn't even turn on the high beams today to confirm they were halogens because of that feature.

2. Since the LED headlights are low-beam only, do any Venture owners have an issue with halogen high beams/LED low beams?

3. Any predictions on how well (or not) the VE will hold its value compared to the TRDP?

4. I bought Bilstein 5100's for my 4RL but since I'm trading it, I'm thinking of installing them in the VE to help with the nose/butt sag during hard braking/acceleration. This VE has KDSS. Thoughts on this? Good or bad.

5. Driving my Limited and the new VE back-to-back I noticed my LE feels like it has more oomph. Is there a difference in the gearing or something? I can't seem to find a technical reason for this. Granted, the new VE's engine hasn't been broken in yet so it could be that.

6. Has anyone bought the Toyota rock sliders? They're $595 and seem decent. Thoughts, good or bad?

The Limited has spoiled me. I'm going to miss the ventilated seats, JBL sound system, dual climate control, and the auto-on headlights

Sluggish response

Shortly after getting my 2021 VE I installed a sprint booster. It made the pedal much responsive. I don't care what people say it made me happy. I have not used my high beams much, mostly city driving, so don't know about the auto function, the halogens will light things up when used. I love the KDSS, really helps in the curves and I have found it not to be an issue when I upgraded the suspension, just loosened the fixed side bottom bolts about half way and was able to install 2.5" lift. I bought the VE over the TRD Pro and have been happy with choice except for the shocks and struts which I fixed, oh and the pedal response.

1. It works well for me on undivided highways (where it's really meant to be used) but it's a feature you have to select, so you don't have to use it if you don't like it.

2. No issues. They line up well for gapless coverage and have a slightly different hue but doesn't bother me.

3. My guess is it'll hold more similar to ORPs, and potentially not hold any premium above them aside from the wheels.

4. I installed a 2" Dobs lift with KDSS and no issues; based on that and the reviews around here the 5100s should be fine.

6. From what I understand they are rock sliders in appearance only, but connect to the running board bolt-ins. If you plan on using them for off roading, I'd recommend sliders that attach to the frame; decent ones can be found for not too much more and most can be easily installed at home no problem.

I can't find the installation instructions for the 5th generation rock rails (PT22889190 - Rock Rails - Right - Genuine Toyota Accessory), but if they mount the same as the 4th generation rock rails, they do indeed mount to the frame and not the running board mounts on the body (http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/...070-71inst.pdf).

It’s funny how L1011’s dwarf everything around them. Almost look cartoonish they’re so huge compared to 737.

Auto headlight ≠ Auto high beam

I never turn of auto headlights. But I've found the auto high beam to be frustratingly bad.

I only tried it twice. First time, like others said, a road sign shut it off. The second time it stayed on far too long and the first oncoming car flashed their lights at me before the lights shut themselves off.

It's easy enough to do on my own.

I don’t like auto high beams, but I do miss not having auto wipers. Those are sweet!

Ah, was not aware of that, I guess I oughta read the manual lol

on my Brides Accord the auto headlights do equal the auto high beams, or at least they do the way she has it set, and I really despise it so never bothered on the 4R

Loved the Tri Star. I wish the auto high beams worked better but guessing on less twisty and winding roads, it probably works quite well. The LED low beam with fog lights works pretty well.

As for resale, I too would think it will be roughly the same as the ORP.
I will say I am still amazed at how many more random compliments I get about MGM Venture compared to my MGM ORP.
