Also, compare the small brackets that hold your steps to the body, vs this gussetted framework bolted to the frame.

The nFab steps look like what I'm looking for. I forgot the "OEM" sliders were from them. I may shoot them an email and inquire. Those sliders are probably enough for me and the places I go.

I agree in principal with sliders that bolt to the frame as best, but on my Jeep Rubicon, the factory Rubicon rails bolt to the body as well and I haven't had any issues.

We had the Predator steps on our 4Runner, which I took off as the would catch on anything on the trails, and occasionally shins off the trails! They are next to impossible to give away so I was thinking about cutting the steps off and bolting them back on for some margin of protection?

We don't rock crawl but I would like something there in the interim at least until we can pickup some real sliders. Thoughts?

If you like to play in the dirt, I personally wouldn't use steps in place of a slider, even if you have gotten way with it in the past. I wouldn't let that stop you from enjoying yourself offroad though, just let someone else go first..lol.

The C4 sliders are very nice! Unfortunately, our 4Runner has KDSS and I'm in Socal. GLWS though!
