Sell/Trade in 2020 OFP for 2022?

Because of the crazy used car market I looked at how much my Mag Gray 2020 OFP w/KDSS is worth. Most places gave it a value of $45k-49k with 11,300 miles.

Given that I could order and buy a new 2022 OFP with the same specs (and several tech upgrades like BSM, cross traffic alerts, LED low and high beam, remote start/stop, etc) should I sell my current car and buy a new one? Thoughts, comments, advice would be appreciated.

Thumbs up

Certainly worth considering I suppose. In many parts of the country finding an ORP is going to be quite difficult. If financed, it would extend having to tote the proverbial note longer. High beam LED’s would be cool and an Army Green ORP would be aces.

While I was exceedingly lucky to have been able to get into the Venture, I still really miss having a moonroof which my ORP had so I too have thought about should an opportunity for a KDSS ‘22 present.

No. Also your 2020 may have remote start already.

Nope. I already checked via forums and several dealers. Only Limited and TRD pro had remote start for this year model. The app says my car isn't equipped for it and isn't an option.

I did install 3rd party LED headlights but just the low beams. I spoke with the dealership I got the car from and they said I can custom order one 10-16 weeks for MSRP. I paid $42k for my car new so I did make some money if I sell this car for a new one. Thank you for your opinion!

Where the heck are you seeing it for 45-49k? The most I've seen for mine is 44k - 2020 ORP w/KDSS, black 10k miles. But to answer your question I'm trading in for a 2022 as well.

I live in Houston, TX and this is based on Carmax/Kbb. Although there wasn't an option for values with KDSS so I'm not sure the exact value but that's an estimate for where I am. Cant even find a new 2021 on the lot right now. Also with Ida hitting Louisiana alot of people are shopping around in Houston for used cars as well.

No! The grass isn’t greener on the other side, there’s only more grass.

Even though it's the same 5th gen but for less miles and more upgrades? for the same price?

Couple things to consider. Most dealers don't have any sitting on their lots, you with have to order one that is a couple months out or buy and allocation. if you trade yours in how long will the dealer hold the trade in price since we all know the high trade in prices are due to crash eventually. If you sell it out right can you get buy without it until your new one comes in? Not sure if your state has sales tax, but here in CT when you trade a car in you don't pay sales tax on the trade in value which is a big help at 6.35%

Exactly! What dealers are doing is making you put a deposit down in an allocation that is months out.....at MSRP. Then, when it finally comes in, they slash their trade in value due to the "extra miles" you put on while you were waiting for your truck, and "changes in the market."

I just bought a 5yr/100k Toyota platinum warranty and will keep my 4Runner for a few more years until this market comes back to reality.

True, I was thinking of putting down a deposit (which is refundable) and see where the market is when it gets here. If my value goes down at that point then I could reconsider. Debating waiting for the 2023 6th Gen as well. Definitely don't want to give up this car unless it's worth it financially

you should burn it. and collect on insurance. Use that money to buy a new 2022 or 23 model
