So I finally finished up my upper and lower grille mods. Pics of grilles with mesh attached. I also painted the Toyota symbol to color-match the truck.

I made a bracket and installed Diode Dynamics lights in the lower grille area. I added two small red lights in the upper grille area.

And finally with the bumper back on:

Pretty happy with how it all turned out. Still need to wire up the lights.

Also, You'll notice that I have cut away the lower portion of the bumper. I am designing and will soon start building a winch bumper.

That looks great. I'm excited to see what you came up with for a bumper. I think your 3rd gen's was great.

How did you attached the mesh?

I had to epoxy some chunks of plastic around the backside perimeter. Then used small screws to attach the mesh to those plastic pieces.

It was actually quite a bit of work making sure everything fit correctly.

I finished the preliminary design for the front bumper. Here are a few CAD images:

Then I built a prototype from 3/16" thick foam board and a lot of hot melt glue.

Installed on the 4Runner:

Winch sitting in prototype:

Building the prototype was worth while, as I found a few things I want to change in the design. Mostly tweak some angles so the bumper better lines up with what's left of the stock bumper. Pretty happy with the overall look of the bumper though. I'll update the design in CAD, and start building the real thing soon.

I've gotta say that's the best 5th gen bumper I've seen. Well done man.

Cool build!

I liked your 3rd gen. I’m copied your roof rack for my 3rd gen. I had to sell it a few yrs back. But I’m back with a ‘22 ORP in Barcelona. I dig the mods. How are you liking the light setup?

Thanks. For the little bit I've played around with the lights, I like them so far. Will be doing some camping soon and hope to really put them to use and see how they do.

A little more progress on the front bumper:

Center section is basically done, just need to clean up the side edges yet. Then move on to the side wings.

Well I finally finished all the fabrication on the front bumper. It took way longer than I expected, but I think it turned out really nice.

I also made a small skid plate that bridges the gap between the bumper and the OEM skidplate:

I just need to clean up a few things, and then get it off to the powder coater. Can't wait to finally get this thing installed.
