Water Seal on Sunroof

I've got a 2017 Off Road Premium with Sunroof. I've noticed every time I go through the car wash with my sunroof slide (not glass, but shade thing) open I can feel and see water coming through. Anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing it's just the higher pressure water still finds a way through. I've seen people have issues with the roof water ducts leaking into the second row and B pillar.

You can see it? where is it getting in?

The sunroof does have drain lines for that specific purpose, but with it closed there really shouldn't be enough water getting through to be noticeable.

By "see it" I mean I see tiny water droplets, a fine mist, on my center console and passenger headrest. I can feel it on my arm and face when I'm going through, almost a really fine mist. I think the actual part of the Sunroof it comes through is the rear, long end of the glass.

This should not be happening. I never experienced any leakage from the moon roof even through carwashes. I wild verify that the drainage hours are completely clear of debris and if they are, get your vehicle back to the dealer for a warrantee repair.
Good luck!

I'll check all the drainage areas when I get back to the truck and take it through the car wash one more time to replicate the issue, and if it's still a problem I'll see what my service dept says...

Did you ever figure out this issue? I took my 2018 TRD off road through a car wash yesterday and felt water drip on my arm. I could also feel a decent amount of water near the back of the sunroof.

Absolutely not true. Very rare occurrence today. I’ve had sunroofs for almost 40 years and never had one leak.

I have never seen the actual reason to have hole in your roof. WTF is the purpose for a sunroof? What benefit does it have?.I've avoided them all my life.I have had T-tops and removable roof panels but no sunroofs.
I unfortunately now have 1 in my '18 TRD prem. I tried to find 1 without but couldn't. I am pretty sure I will hate the thing at some point. As of now I keep looking at it and asking: Why? What good are you?

And this is why I hate sunroofs... I really prefer not to have one.

The added cost, potential for issues, maintenance, or fragility for roof based items turns me off.

I also think they really get in the way if you want a nice roof rack / flat rack or RTT.

I would also prefer not to have it, however it seems like it shouldn't be leaking after 2500 miles and 2 months of ownership. I'll take it to the dealer and see what they suggest.

I take mine through the carwash 2 to 3 times a week. It hasn't leaked yet. One thing to remember is is if you take it offroad or have it where the suspension is flexing make sure it is closed. If it's open it could allow the body to flex just enough to cause a leak.

Not uncommon. All 3 of my 5th Gens have had some leakage at the rear seal.

If they used a bulb seal, it would probable be a lot tighter, but with the way the sunroof works (tilt up and drop and slide) a bulb seal wouldn't hold up for long.

They should fix it for free of course, no excuse on a car that new....

I have the same problem with my JUL2018. After washing my car (low pressure hose) there's a drip of water right at the center point where the seal meets.

Have a 2001 4Runner also...that has *NEVER LEAKED*
