I believe 2.5" is really the max before you start to see lean or need to do other corrections. You may have to dig, but there are a number of threads on lifting with KDSS.

more than 2.5" in front and you run into geometry problems with your suspension

more than 1" in the rear and you'll need to add the sway bay spacers to avoid creating contact and limiting down travel

I've had my KDSS rig lifted 3" front and rear for 8 years without issue. Never had any lean or other issues for over 100,000 miles. I've run the Sonoran Steel KDSS sway bar for a couple years and recently added the rear spacer blocks. I don't run the front spacer due to contact issues with my skid plate. I have always had adjustable coil overs which can be used to compensate for the lean in many situations.
I don't think there's any concern going up to 3" front and rear with KDSS, more so I'd be concerned with my CV's.

For a mid travel setup, you can lift up to 3 inches in the front and 2 to 3 inches in the rear just like a non-kdss 4runner. Will require the same upgrades (aftermarket upper control arm) as a nonkdss 4runner. Any higher in the front, your CV angles may look out of wack.

The difference between non-kdss and kdss is the installation, which requires a few more steps and due to the leverage is a PITA if you working in your driveway.

Only time, kdss and non-kdss makes a difference is if you go long travel and that just means you will lose your KDSS system that you paid good money for as a option.

Recently, extended travel was also iffy, due to possible contact of the rear sway bar with the rear track bar, but thats no longer the case with kdss spacers. Also, not all vehicles are affected by this.

The KDSS lean also affects some people more than others. It can occur with or without a lift. Not all vehicles are affected by this.
