Kenda Klever AT2's. 60K mileage warranty for P Metric sizes (50K for LT), 3 peak mtn snow flake, and some of the best pricing out there.

I got a set of four in 315/70r17's for under $1K ($835 from BB Wheels).

And they look great.

One warning, they are a hair noisier than milder AT's. I think with regular rotating it would be fine though. I also do a lot of high speed driving and with mine being so large they flex more, so you should be just fine with stock size, proper pressure, and rotations.

I understand looks are important but really in this case youre trading performance for looks since you dont really need an all terrain or any sort of offroad tire. the michelins are designed to be the best for everyday pavement driving, wet or dry. they will outperform all terrain or offroad tires, even though some AT tires are very high quality

the other deciding factor for me was that this is not your rig, it's your wife's and ride comfort is important as well as performance on road. I will always put michelin on the wife's vehicle since they are the best tire that meets her needs
Yeah, you're right. I need to let go of the delusion that we're going to overland to South America, and just do the right thing and get the LTX.

Now, one other question - get the LT or P?

Happy with my KO2's. On my second set, got 90,000 miles out of the first set. Have to keep them rotated or they will get noisy.

No need to go LT stated unless you need it for trails etc. P is fine.

Fwiw, Michelin ltx AT2 would probably be great for overland in Africa.

It's a tire worth consideration as a compromise.

I have the ltx AT2 on my f250. They're great so far. Smooth, quiet, great traction in every situation I've used them. But I don't take it off road. It breaks down a lot. I don't trust it to get me back even if I dont get stuck.

Ltx MS are hard to beat all around. They've been around forever for good reason.

LT if you tow, P is fine for everything else

ko2's, they are extremely durable and extremely reliable tire.

I would use the ko2s as the baseline to measure all other all-terrain tires out there.

They manage to do enough in all conditions (except mud pits and black ice), that it will get you out of most situations.

I've put my ko2 through hell and back and they've always managed to get me home and are extremely civilized for daily driving.

Between E and C load. I probably would go with C load if you spend most if not all your time on the tarmac, but want to still go places in adverse weather conditions or want the occasional dirt therapy.

BFG has earned my business in the AT market.

Analysis paralysis gets me on most my purchases. We went with Cooper Discoverer ATP and have been thrilled, especially with rain stopping. They are a little louder than typical tires but nothing that we aren't used to with a loaded roof rack (or when we drive my FJ). I think they just released Discoverer ATP II which might have solved a little of the noise.

Yeah same here, but I think at some point you just have to go with the law of averages. There's always going to be someone with a negative opinion for a certain product, but if there's sufficient positive feedback you just have to go with the majority rules.

I had a bad set of falken Wildpeak at3w that would not balance and discount tire replaced them with pathfinder at. I only have 2k on them and I want to replace them with general atx 177 a tire before the 100 rebate from general.

I have mixed feelings on KO2s. quiet, but didn't mix well in the wet roads here. On the highway in the rain, they're not too bad. Ended up selling to a friend that uses them on his truck that is used to tow his boat. He has the same experience in the wet.

replaced with Mickey Thompson ATZ P3. a little noiser, but better performance in the wet. lost of compliments from people.
