Yeah and if it’s clicking inside the car, it’s obviously not normal. That should be easily verifiable with another vehicle. If they both do it, there’s a problem with the pumps from that VIN group.

Here is a video of the sound. It is a little hard to hear on video but like I said it starts to be noticeable around 1,700 RPM. I tried to drop the RPM and raise them to get the sound difference.

I listened to your recording. I'm sorry to say I can't hear any clicking noise. I still have decent hearing, but maybe the frequency is just too high for me to hear.
Maybe another member will hear it, and can identify it.

Putting my phone speaker next to my ear I hear the “clicking” noise. Just sounds like top end valve noise, but you said it doesn’t change with rpm. If you revved higher I think we would hear it change frequency bit still be the same click clack taps.

Sounds like a faint noise of an old film projector whenever you have your foot on gas. Ticking does not change relative to the increase or decrease in RPMs, so what is constant when accelerating that is not RPM dependent?

I have a different noise
My 2021 Venture has had a noise since rolling off the lot. It sounds like someone hitting the rear side window with a pebble. Seems to happen when the truck is on uneven ground, almost like if the body twists there is a pop or tap, what ever you want to call it, somewhere in rear inside 4runner. Very anoyying.

I talked to another tech at the dealership and they are telling me it is a secondary pump making the noise. I am not knowledgeable on anything other than Jeep lifts, so I am not really sure what to take of this.

So where is this supposed secondary pump located?
Get him to show you where it is.
Have you actually taken it in for them to find says said problem?

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t the air injection pump only run at start up and shut down? !

Yes, I took it into service, but they never showed me. I actually just dropped it off at a different Toyota service department. I am interested to see what they have to say. They were a lot more receptive when I was explaining my problem than the first dealership.

After four hours at the dealership and four different test drives by service members, they acknowledge that the noise is not normal but they do not know what it is or how to fix it. I’ve got another appointment set up for Monday with the original service department of where I purchased a vehicle. They want to record the noise and send it to Toyota to open a service call, whatever that is? Also, I think I have narrowed the noise down to directly behind the tachometer.

I mentioned earlier that I am not sure when the air injection pump runs. Only at start up and shut down doesn’t make sense to me, but I have heard that stated before.
Sounds like OP finally has Toyota’s attention, hopefully we get to the bottom of this.
