well that was fun. What I've learned from this thread:
1) everyone on this forum (aside from our Canadian friend) are either:
a. goofs
b. fools
c. clowns
d. some combination of the above
2) if you can touch it, it's an access hole

Sure. Apex Overland sells a version as well. Both are cost-effective alternatives. Nevertheless, the question was why do people buy them without a winch, and there are several possibilities. A desire to make the other vehicle serve as the crumple zone. Solid recovery points. And of course, looks.

Correct. The CBI bumper requires a CBI skid. Pro skid will not fit.

Expecting it to look like the picture they use to show what it looks like is too high of an expectation??? Maybe if more people let them know their quality is shit, these companies would hold themselves to higher standards. I build stuff for a living and if I couldn't make something under a 1/2" tolerance like that gap is, I'd quit.

What you are implying tis that:
A. Every single vehicle coming off the line is perfectly symmetrical to the next?
B. Since we have no idea... are we even sure he mounted the bumper correctly and to CBI spec?
C. Did anyone measure the fenders and mounting areas to confirm they have not changed from the day it rolled off the assembly line?
D. Has he contacted CBI with the pictures to ask for any comment from them?
The answers are no, across the board. Maybe he finally stopped *****in like a little school girl who finger points and lashes out at the very people he asked for help. Did he reach out to the ONLY people who can actually help him? CBI.
