lifted KDSS front swaybar interfering with oil change

had my 2020 KDSS lifted ~2.5" in front on jack stands this past weekend to do an oil change and i noticed that the sway bar was pivoted to the rear of the car so that it prevented my oil filter housing from being removed

it was blocking it by only a few mm, but i still had to grab a small prybar to pivot the swaybar out of the way to get my oil filter housing removed

anyone else run into this problem? could it be alignment related? i'm on SPC upper control arms using the recommended caster adjustment.

i should have taken a picture but i was in a hurry to complete the job

"had my 2020 KDSS lifted ~2.5" in front on jack stands this past weekend to do an oil change"

I have a 2.5" lift too... I don't need to jack up the car to get under it and never have this problem.
Crawl under there and see if it's still blocked when not jacked up.
Granted I have a 2016 so maybe somethings changed.

I've never had issues either, but your comment reminded me- I don't jack the vehicle up I just crawl under it so the sway bar is likely out of the way. Good to know and OP should give that a shot maybe. Or don't jack it up as high and leave the wheels touching the ground a bit to keep the swaybar out of the way a few mm.

never had a problem with kdss/sway bars getting in the way during a oil change, but then again, i'm too peasant or lazy, or too efficient to jack up my vehicle if i don't have to.

OP try to do your oil change on the ground next time, if you can.

I have 4x4 “ramps” at each corner as a quick, safe and level way to get it a bit higher for things like oil changes. Works great.

Found that problem at first oil change nine years ago. I guess Toyota still hasn't addressed that articular issue. You need to have the weight on the front tires to move the sway bar out of the way. Use ramps if you don't room to work underneath.

hmm, my first oil change when the car was new (and stock height) i left the car on the ground and noticed that i couldn't hinge down the skid plate enough to get it off before it touched the ground. maybe that's different when the car is lifted?

ill give it a shot next time

It's the tabs on the front of the skid plate. The tab has an extra "kink" in it that makes you have to wiggle it to get it out, if the truck isn't up on jacks. On my second oil change, I got out my angle grinder (Dremel would work too) and trimmed the kink off the tabs. Way easier to take the skid off and on now.

Either grind the skid plate tabs off or just build a set of wheel blocks out of some 2x6 or 2x8 or 4.5 or 6.0 inches high

you know in your case if the sway bar is in the way, you can always loosen the bolt for the sway bar that's attaching it to the frame. it should give you more room by removing that i guess.
