That's not for button pushing the fob to unlock. The 2.3 ft is how close the fob needs to be in order to open the doors without pushing a button on the fob.

Now I'm curious as to the actual range. It seems strange to say, but I have not used the buttons on my fob once. I prefer just grabbing the door handle and unlocking/locking.

They changed key fobs for 2022's using the latest Prius's 14FLA fob.
Supposedly, according to dealer ,all trim levels of 22's have the smart key and push button start.

My 2012 is old school and the fob only unlocks or can activate the panic alarm. But the best part it works from a good distance away and that has come in handy numerous times. I like the distance feature.
Question: the panic alarm can be a lifesaver, does this short distance fob have that feature?
It does have that feature. It will panic from distance, how far I donít know. It was at the dealership, girl hit the panic to locate, then couldnít deactivate!
Had to walk closer to turn it off.

.
I was in the WallyWorld parking lot the other day and I unlocked my ('21) from approximately a hundred feet away. Sometime I'll have to give it a whirl in my driveway with some known distances.

I'm not a big fan of the key-less smart fobs, especially since they are giving off that constant signal. Thanks to those who posted the ways to override it.

I wish it didn't re-enable itself once you've pushed a button after it was disabled. Would've been better IMO if you had to reenter the "code" again by holding the lock button and pushing the unlock button twice to turn the fob auto signals back on. That way you could completely disable the fob from sending out signals, and the auto touch feature, yet still use the push buttons on the fob to unlock and lock the doors indefinitely or until you reenter the code...kind of like safe mode.

This info came directly from my manual.

My previous 2014 didn't have a push button start or all of the antennas to read/transmit the signal from fob to vehicle and from vehicle to fob.
My previous key fob could transmit a long distance and battery would last years as well.
sorry for the delay------yes I have "push button start" its an LTD...... and the silver fob acts as the remote start activation , by pressing lock 3x and then holding it until the front an rear blinkers flash.
