Which lifts have longest service interval?
I have a 22 ORP Lunar Rock due in November.
I want to run ~32.5/33"tires and plan to install a lift.
I just want decent ride quality maybe reduced nose dive (non kdss truck) and increased ground clearance.
I do NOT want to have to rebuild the shocks every couple years. I drive 20k miles per year.
I know some of the more performance oriented coilovers require rebuilding as often as every 30k miles.
I am looking for decent quality with longest service intervals.
Based on that, do any of you have recommendations on which kit I should install?
On most kits available I can't find the mfg service intervals listed. thanks.

bilstein 6112, bilstein 5100, OME nitrocharger, or eibach are pretty much the only options with long service intervals and are non-rebuildable. any other nice coilover will need to be rebuilt every couple years at your miles per year(~30-50k intervals).
That is pretty much the only reason I am running the 5100's. If the service intervals were longer I would have just gotten king or fox to begin with.

Yeah that was my thought too. I'd buy once cry once if it weren't for that.
Just not down to uninstall reinstall plus rebuild every couple years.
I installed Radflow 2.5s on my 08 FJ years ago and am not even sure what the interval is.
Fortunately it is only driven 1500 to 2k miles per year now.
I'm going to look into the bilstein options I guess. I'm sure I'll find them backordered but need to get the process started.

I really don't understand why those manufacturers - King, Fox, etc Don't build them with rubber bushings on the lower end. That's really all that ever needs rebuilding on mine. But it needs it every 1 to 2 years. And that's super annoying. How hard could it be to just machine out a different lower eyelet and put a rubber bushing in it? There's no benefit at all to having spherical bushings down there for street driven vehicles like ours.

From what I’ve read and understand about dobinsons MRAs you get close to the performance and features you want out of high end suspension at value pricing and also no set rebuild time cause they actually use rubber/durable bushings. They sacrifice a bit of performance for more durability unless I read the setup wrong on their seals.
I definitely going this route since my runner is a DD and a toy. I’m not a damn trophy truck

Honestly the rebuild times were something that pushed me away from some of the larger brands as well because I am also driving 20K a year….
I decided to go with the Bilstein 6112s and 5160s and wish I thought about my situation a little more. With the extra weight/wanting a more aggressive set up I am already looking for an upgrade a year later.
I agree with Bry_n and agree the dobs MRR/MRA look like a great option that I will prob go with later this year. Reach out to Crikeymike if you have any questions about them.

im going to assume the buyers remorse is not being able to rebuild them and he may or may not have wanted the luxury of on the fly adjustability in which dobbies provide that at a very similar price point as the 6112/5160 combo. since i DD my runner for work commute and offroad on the weekends It would be great to firm it up on the fly for the week and then soften it up for the weekend runs

I am running 285/70/17 KO2s with a 1.25 in spacer on stock ORP wheels.
The Bilsteins are a great set up especially for the price point. I even say this after being one of the few who had an issue with a leaky resi hose. (that could have been partially my fault.)
Bry_n is right, I wish that I could rebuild them/I had more adjustability. After the Bilsteins have settled, I am rubbing a bit so it would be nice to have more spring options or to firm things up ect.
Long story short, I wasn’t expecting to use my 4runner off-road as much so I just wish I considered other options.

Do you have the 650lbs springs with your 6112's? I have them and am happy with them so far, but do think they settled a little as well. Without the wheel spacers, the tires didn't rub (front liners were already cut a little towards the bottom front), but after 1.5in spacers there's a lot of rubbing.
I will say too, the 5160's are not valved strong enough for HD rear springs, so that is something to note as well.
I swapped the 5160's for Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro's (that's a mouthful lol), and can say they work fine for crawling and prob most trails, but they suck bad for high speed, whoop settings. I imagine most 4R owners will not encounter that setting, but figured I'd share my disappointment.

Love my 5100s, front set at 1.75" with 1.5" spacers in the rear. Rides perfect for a DD, road-tripper, and weekend warrior.
I'd consider OMEs if I was going to go bit higher on the lift since I can't imagine ever doing anything with a 4Runner that requires rebuildable suspension.

This thread applies to me directly. I also am looking for a long term coilover that will give me 1.5"-2" MAX lift.
I believe that I am limited to the Billies 5100 or 6112, OME, Ironman, or last but not least Dobinsons. Basically want to level up the front, but don't want to use spacers.

No I believe I only have the 600lbs (thats standard right?) I have done the basic, BMC, pinch welds, cut liners, ect and didnt rub until I added skids and sliders. Moving up to 650 would solve my problems I'm sure.
I agree with you on the 5160's, this and needing new springs in the front gives me an excuse to just move to a bigger set up haha!
