bears

I haved camped extensively all around the country in everything from tents to trucks and suv's to motorhomes and have never really had a bear problem. As several have said, don't leave trash or food out where it is accessable to them. They do have a great sense of smell we live in bear country in the mountains and have had them all around the house, on the porch and deck and even in the garage and never had one try to get into the house or car. we are careful to not leave any food, birdseed, etc around.

Using your Yeti cooler with locks and a chain should work as a deterrent. Just ensure your food is securely stored, and you should be fine.

I hope your camping trip was a big success! I'm a big fan of deep forest adventures myself, and I've been lucky to avoid any bear encounters or wildlife mishaps by being extra cautious. I make sure to seal all food, and toiletries, and leave no trash to avoid attracting any curious forest dwellers. My experiences have been overwhelmingly positive, aside from those pesky mosquito attacks. But there's something truly magical about those evenings around the fire, savoring nature foods, gazing at starry skies, and feeling that deep connection with nature. I'm actually considering another hike this fall to rekindle those emotions and impressions.

I tend to pack all food into air tight containers anyways, i try to be really careful snacking in the car. If i drop something, I'm going to try and find it at the next gas station or stop (especially in bear country). i don't cook in the cargo area like all the instafakers like to do in bear country. If i was in the desert, then cooking/food isn't a problem.

I use bear box's if they were available, but typically where i camp, they aren't readily available.

Carry bear spray, something that makes lots of noise or a 10mm glock....

Rodents are a huge problem. More than once, rodents have disabled vehicles in camp by eating wires or building nests in engine bays. They can destroy your vehicle's electrical system in one night. I've been lucky...my buddies have not.

I camp, I use a tent. If no areas to hang bear barrel I keep it sealed and in truck. A cooler outside truck will get ripped to pieces easily by a bear that smells food. I carry spray and a rifle if spray wears off.
