Aftermarket wheel sizing and spacing question
I have a Nightshade with factory 20’s. The constraints of my question are that I am asking it WITHOUT assuming BMC, trimming, lift, or level will be involved.
I want to see if deviating from factory wheel width or offset can help me accommodate any larger tire, without rubbing, than a factory wheel can.
Example. I have my eyes on a 275/55R20. I know that Discount Tire (America’s Tire) will let me squeak by despite the rim with of 7” falls outside the lower bounds of the rim width range for that tire size (7.5”).
If I play with wheel size and offset ONLY, is there any chance at being able to clear anything larger, or is “every deviation is a bad deviation” that will bring me closer to, not farther from, hitting the nearest wheel well liner or suspension component?
This has a little bit more detail than the popular T4R tire fitment spreadsheet shows, with green/yellow/red. It’s useful, but I want to get a little more granular than that with this question.
TIA!
