At that point, I would just get the upper grill S8 kit. That way you don't need to pay extra for a separate bracket system from Rago.

If I could offer an opinion, one should look at how much light it's possible to get out of the upper grill area compared to the lower grill area. I'd propose that even with the sensor panel in the center, there's far more area to mount just about whatever one wants down there.
Sure, generally speaking, the longer distance the pattern of the light, the farther off the ground you want to mount it. But the lower grill is still pretty far off the ground. I'll report in on how mounting some really serious fire power in that area works when I get my new setup installed.

i dont think s8 and onx are comparable though. for the lower grille i'd suggest some XL80's for the long range. and the upper do the s8 kit.

You might want to keep an eye on Diode Dynamics then. I think the SS5 is planning to eat all those boys for lunch.

Honestly, if I can find a way to make the ONX6+ kit fit in the upper grill, I would go that route as It is literally twice the output of the S8 kit… When I emailed Baja Designs about it, they said it was possible with some fabrication…
But the S8 kit is plug and play so that helps quite a bit!
Sometimes I wish I wasn’t such a lighting fiend!!! Lol

well..anything that isn't taller than 2 inches will fit in the upper grill area with no mods. that is why the s8 will fit easily behind the grill with no mods necessary.
Anything bigger than that may require modding the latch support area (dremeling the bottom of it for clearance) or rub against the plastic front grill, thats why the onx6 might not fit without mods.
Those who have mounted onx6 in the upper grill usually cut out the grill and have the light poking out like a badass.... I personally wouldn't do that because, someone will easily walk away with your 1k light.

Have you seen people actually get these lights in the upper grill?

yeah..
s8 will fit with low profile mounts.
onx6 will not fit without you modding the grill and latch area if you want it to sit behind the grill. onx6 has a wonky bracket.
I'm probably going to go with s8's in the near future for the upper grill, and onx6 in my SSO bumper (once sso confirms it will fit).

Well, these fit and they're 3.3" square pods.
You're definitely going to have to make custom brackets.

yeah the bracket is the issue with the onx6 and for most light bars in that area.
It forces the light bar towards the front and the light bar contacts the hood latch support.
Yours mounts in the front, so it allows your light to sit further back and in the rear. Also you don't have to deal with the hood latch support since you are using pods.

Oh I see, using a single bar will be a bit more involved. I thought we were still talking about smaller, dual bars.
