brand new TPMS sensors - batteries dead after 2 weeks?

just wondering if any of you have had this issue. I haven't heard of this happening to anyone given these batteries last easily 7-12 years. I've never actually had to replace one in any vehicle. anyways, installed 4 new winter tires, got new sensors as well, from toyota. did some around town trips for about a week and a half and all was good. was back on the road this weekend and after about 20-30 minutes at highway speeds the TPMS light flashes and goes solid. now every time I start the truck the light flashes and goes solid. all tire pressures are good and drove another 4 hours and hundreds of km without tire pressure issues- besides the TPMS light on. I have a 2012 and spare doesn't have TPMS. 99% sure of this as TPMS for spares didn't come out until 2014-2016ish

I know it's likely an issue with a sensor (don't have a scan tool) rather than the TPMS module itself. surprised a sensor would fail this early given it was working when installed. maybe bad luck and likely toyota will warranty the part(s). anything I could be missing? no I did not hit any big bumps or potholes

Could have been sitting on a shelf for 7 years, too. “New old stock”.

I’d check the part number and see if there have been any revisions. You always want the most recent iteration of the part compatible with your vehicle. It’s your next best indicator when you don’t see an actual date of manufacture, or can’t date it with a serial number.

Thanks - I'm using 42607-33022 for the sensor and 04423-33060 for the fitting kit which I believe are current

Had a 2004 4Runner SE with sensors on all 4 wheels on the ground and 1 on the spare. Check your spare. It appears you have a Limited that might have a sensor on the spare. If so, spare air pressure may be low as happens this time of year as the weather cools.
