Locking hitch pin that isn't junk?
This should be an easy thing to find, but every pin I look into has horrible reviews everywhere. Is there a good, reliable locking hitch pin anywhere? I realize that anyone who's an expert thief will always be able to pick any lock, I'm just looking for something with decent build quality that won't stop working after some road dust gets on it.

I've read 850 reviews here and other sites, purchased 5, and I still can't find on that doesn't suffer from some or all of these problems:
- Rusts
- Lock siezes over time
- Rattles in the hitch
- big and awkward design that look odd
It's really only a problem if you are trying to keep something at all times, which I am.
There's a huge market for someone that designs a great locking hitch pin.
Maybe we should as Apple to do it ...

x2 man I hear you. I looked for days. nothing I liked. you could use a 5/8" grade 8 (I think it's grade 8) stainless steel bolt, washer and lock nut.
I have been using the Reese tactical lock and surprisingly it has not rusted and the lock mechanism still works (surprisingly I know). I've had it for a few months now. I will see how it holds up over the next 6 months
for anyone that doesn't need a locking hitch pin B&W makes a great stainless steel one. I have that one and it doesn't lock. It's been on in all weather conditions and still no rust (but it's B&W they are quality and $$$). Kind of off topic, but hitch locks are very easily defeated. anyone with a pipe or prybar or power saw can break them off, very easily. If you run a hitch tightener that is more likely to deter a thief than a lock. you'd need a ratchet to remove it, if someone is walking around with a ratchet set to steal hitches they will certainty be prepared to break a lock off. for what it's worth, when my reese lock fails I will just snap it off and go back to my B&W unlocking pin I like it so much
also side note. I used two grommets on the receiver lock cylinder to stop it from rattling side to side movement in the hitch
EDIT: out of curiosity I went to unlock my hitch pin to inspect it. I turned it upside down after removal and water dripped out the keyhole. cannot recommend the reese product unfortunately. it wouldn't last 1 month in the winter without rusting. too bad, I liked that hitch pin. back to my B&W pin I guess

i have a locking hitch pin that you actually thread in to avoid the loose connection and had a lock on it. there's actually a big square nut you have to insert inside the hitch and tighten it with a wrench. i'm not sure if it's still being sold at etrailer.com.

something like this?

if you live somewhere with winter conditions be careful that the nut doesn't rust itself inside the hitch tube. I've heard of that happening and people having a hard time removing them because the bolt is threaded

Master Lock
I have had one from Master for close to 25 years. It's not EXACTLY like this one, but the locking mechanism is the same.

Used this for years without any issue. no rattle, never failed me, dust cap actually does keep it clean. uses your ignition key to unlock.

I just bought a replacement after 10+ years.
It gave me such good service, I went with the exact same one!

If you use a locking pin, also buy a good drill and several bits, a 5lbs hammer and give yourself an extra 30min before you try and use it. Been there 3 times.
