Finally ditched the front mud flaps and couldn't be happier

After upgrading my suspension and tires I was trying to keep my front mud flaps because I liked the look. I tried not to cut the wheels to sharp as family and friends would jump in the passenger seat and exclaim "what the hell was that noise?". So yesterday I removed them and discovered the awesome turning radius of my wonderful vehicle.

if you care about your paint, you may consider PPF on the rear doors.

Even with the mud flaps my rear door bottom rear quarters are already chipped at ~14k miles and no off-roading other than gravel lots for mtn biking trails.

are you running a lift and/or AT tires? I second the PPF. mine came factory with PPF on the rear door bottoms (with mud flaps too). my rear doors look no different in terms of wear than any other part of the vehicle. I have stock suspension and never ran ATs though but have driven on many dirt/gravel roads. also have PPF on my hood and it works very well and has held up great after 10 years almost

This is true; I should have done PPF, but honestly, rock sliders offer a lot of protection as well surprisingly.

You can see here the mud that gets past the slider is minimal

I am 100% stock '21 Nightshade and have the factory PPF. It only covers a small section of the very bottom of the rear doors. The chips are above the PPF. I don't off-road or tailgate either (I drive like a grandma, hence my 20 mpg avg)

Honestly, I think it's the Blizzard Pearl paint quality... but I don't know how to approach Toyota considering there has been no resolution for the many others experiencing issues with it.

maybe it is the blizzard pearl paint. I get the odd stone chip to touch up here and there but that's about it. I also have a 2012, you have a 2021, so there could be some changes in design/paint that come into play. the nightshades look really sleek though, saw one at home depot in the summer. it was parked beside me at the back of the parking lot where no one else parks. it was damn nice
