T9 Problems

Anyone else have a T9 head unit? I mistakenly purchased one used because I didn't realize there was a new version with built-in carplay.

The T9's carplay dongle solution is absolutely trash. On basically any kind of bump on or offroad it loses connection and struggles to find it again EVEN if the carplay is coming through the AUX cord.

Is there a different or better module I can buy/update to make this not a giant waste of money or am I just stuck struggling with this garbage head unit until I find some other sucker willing to pay money for it?

I personally prefer to stream audio via Bluetooth to the head unit and use my phone for the heavy work mounted in just the right spot.

Even with my new 10" Kenwood upgraded head unit with wireless carplay I prefer to mirror for long trip since carplay is so limited.

Normally I'd agree, but lately the stupid thing won't even connect to the head unit's bluetooth. Sometimes it "forgets" about my phone and doesn't even show it in the list. Later after restarting the car it'll magically appear.

It's funny because the only reason I upgraded was to get away from the stock unit which was also very glitchy in its bluetooth connectivity.

Bluetooth is just a really really shitty connectivity standard

You might want to bite the bullet and get a good aftermarket head unit.

My 2019 head unit was solid with BT connection.

Are you on the CTH T9 facebook group? Ton's of knowledge in there plus the T9 Bible they have assembled has just about anything you could want. I have a T9 and It's been fantastic for me. I am an android user so i dont have the Apple Car play struggle. i would highly recommend joining the group if you have not done so. Where did you buy yours? HOpefully from Car trim home and not ebay or Amazon.

I bought it from a fellow group member of my local offroading group. Didn't bother joining the FB group because I didn't buy from them.

I'm mostly just venting at this point, giant waste of money since it can't even fulfill it's basic functions reliably

You can still join the FB group. it's not exclusive to those that bought through the group. the community is still willing to help. im not familiar enough with car play myself but there are a lot that are. i just turn on my phone hotspot, connect to T9 to that and use the apps it has. What is is on the carplay that you would be missing?
