Maybe he just didn't read the reviews on, say...... the aviator and its issues.

Hell, I drove one considering for my wife.....then I read the issues.

NO THANKS!

The 4Runner is a rear wheel drive based vehicle. That was one of my requirements. It also MUST have 6500 gvwr. I've posted that maybe a dozen times.
There is no excuse not to have 4 wheel independent suspension on a truck with only a 5000 pound trailer rating. Especially if it costs $50k like some 4R's do. Regardless of what some people may think here it is the better system for off-roading.

Do you think you can tell the difference between FWD and RWD biased crossovers? Pray tell, what is it that you think makes the RWD bias better?

I've already given you a lesson on load distribution and why solid rear axles work better for load on uneven surfaces. Not sure we need to cover it again. You don't go off road. So it's not meaningful for you. That's okay. But you bought the wrong car.

4Runner gvwr is 6,300lbs Max. Again you bought the wrong car.

That site is as reliable as the active fuel management any brand uses...so not reliable.

I'm not seeing all this great reliability when it comes to body and interior as Ive said a dozen times here.

Ford sells 2-5 TIMES as many Explorers compared to Toyota and 4Runners.

CarFigures | Automotive Sales Data, Analysis, Tooling and more

Consumer Reports doesn't rate the 4Runner very high either. If you want the best rating there you should be looking into the Kia Telluride.

Thats true. This latest generation is a lot better than the previous in many ways. I took an Aviator on a business trip when I worked for Ford. It was a vehicle by itself not a reskinned something. I didn' t really care much for it.

Do you not understand how important GRWR is?

Your so called " lesson" and "teaching" about sold axles be superior to independent was at the level of a high schooler. "Clownish pontification" is a better way to describe it. You couldn't do the math. I gave you direction on what needed to be done.

I bought a 4Runner in 2020. Now there are now a lot better options. The 5th Gen is severely lacking especially at the prices they are asking. The 6th Gen better be a whole lot better than the current Explorer/Aviator. Thats the point of this thread.

I guess I don't understand how you MUST have 6,500 gvwr but also bought a SUV with a lower gvwr. Help me understand that.

I did my best to simplify the math on sold axle load distribution so you could understand it. And explained it in plain terms. I don't think you did any math. We can go review if you'd like.

Solid Front Axle Fascination (SFAF): Help Me Understand

You want a car with big tires, you got a truck with extra seats. You bought the wrong car. That's okay. Resale is good. There's a billion crossovers to choose from. They have everything you're looking for in a car and none of the truck utility you don't like. Seems like an easy problem to solve.

In other news - did everyone know that Lincoln was still selling cars? I haven't seen a new Lincoln in a decade. Or at least not one I recognized as a new Lincoln. I kinda assumed they can closed shop.

My buddy tows an Rpod with their expedition EB and it overheats pretty regularly on the hills in Utah in the summer. Engine derates and it loses power. Not enough cooling capacity. I'm not sure if the smaller SUVs with the EB engines have the same issues. Otherwise he generally likes it as a people mover. But not a good tow vehicle.
