LFD Bars too long?
Hey all,
I ordered a full set of LFD roof bars for my 2017 4Runner and they seem to be too long to fit the factory roof rails.
What am I doing wrong?

With one end in, I’m not even close.

Yes, all rails are 40 and 1/2”. The distance between my rails is 40 and 3/8”.
I’m not an engineer. Please tell me what I’m missing?

That's surprising. They work perfectly on my 2021. Have you contacted LFD?

LFD picked up the phone!
Some stock rails, in rare cases, move from use, or were not placed precisely apart at the factory.
I’m going to pop the end caps, loosen the rails and see what’s going on.

I just measured mine - 40.5 and they work just fine.
Never occured to me that some trucks would be off just off a bit.
Hopefully loosen and re-tighten works.

Loosening the rails worked. If you need to do this, don’t be intimidated. I do recommend plastic automotive trim tools when popping off the end caps.
I loosened all four corners (to be even) and laid the bars in. I tightened the bars in position, then tightened the rails back down. I only needed to move the rails enough to expose a little dirt that had collected under the caps. I’ll include some pics. Already added eyelets.
Once again, LFD picked up the phone and were very helpful.
Cheers!

Nice board! Glad you figured it out, and more so that you shared your experience. Others who run into the same issues will greatly benefit from your generosity.
Pics of the German Shep??

Ha! Those tools are just the quick grab stuff, currently scattered due to some projects.

I feel like popping off those end caps is one of those tasks where there is a very fine line between success and destruction
