So back in February I placed an order for a set of 6112's front and 5160's with 1" Bilstein springs for the rear of my 2015 ORP from Total Automotive Performance.

The 6112's finally shipped in May but the 5160's and springs were still not due to be in stock until Spring 2022. I decided waiting over a year for shocks and springs was insane so after a call to Total Automotive Performance to review my options they suggested dropping the 5160's and Bilstein rear springs for a set of Icon 2.0 shocks and Icon 2" rear springs. Guys at TAP were great to work with and are doing their best to deal with the current supply chain hell we live in.

My original plan was to go with 1.6" lift on the 6112's front and 1" in the rear but now with the 2" Icon coils out back I'm not sure if I should go 2" front and rear or 2.5" front and 2" rear. Currently have full length Front Runner roof rack, ARB awning, RSG sliders and about 75 lbs. of gear in the back. Trying to avoid the need for UCA's, sway bar relocations and diff drop kits. This vehicle sees some occasional light off road duty so maximizing off road performance was never my goal.

Anyone have any experience with this particular setup or anything similar? Things to look out for? Issues? Recommendations?

you "shouldnt" need anything extra even if you max the 6112's out. 2" all around will look good, back end will be up a bit so its not sagging when you load up with gear. 2" will also allow a better alignment with stock uppers.

UCAs help significantly with alignment and handling at 2.5"+ so that might be a consideration to make as well

2020 Venture with 6112’s , 5160’s in the rear - pretty level.
Max lift in front, I used 36-281817 Bilstein springs in rear. T4R has KDSS. Also added icons UCA w/delta ball joints.
Rides fantastic. Doesn’t squat with 4 adults in it. I haven’t really loaded up much more than 5-600 lbs. I can’t upload pics yet - irritating.

I kind of like the look of some forward rake so I am hoping going with 2" on both ends keeps about the same look.

I have been using 2 jacks to try to get an approximate visual of what the 2" lift will look like and it seems like it will work out.

Now I just need to take a couple days off work to install all this stuff!!!

That's what I was thinking but it seems like every 4Runner is "unique" and you never really know until its installed.

its all personal preference. I went with a 3F/2R then 3f/3R lift for a few years, and now recently went back down to a 2F/2R lift, not really by choice (due to adding a lot of armor/weight), but I actually like the look (lifted and OEM rake), and driving characteristics more so I left it at 2f/2r.

Dobinsons 2.5" F & 1.5" R is what I'm going with so I don't have to get new UCAs.

I personally wouldnt skip out on aftermarket UCA's. Pretty sure you would want bigger tires and better alignment adjustability down the road and since you'll be popping the ball joint out of the spindle your about half way of replacing them.

I did Dobinson IMS 2"/1", stock UCA, drives great.

Yes, I had 6112 with Icon 2.0 on 1" Eibach rear springs.

It is a superb setup on the road and a nice light-duty offroad setup, which I bet is all you need east of Denver.

The thing about the Icon 2.0 smooth body is that the shock's ideal lift would be 2". At 1" you will be rubbing on the parking brakes so you need to find a solution for that. I think 1.5" would be enough not to rub, but the body is simply too long to work with 1" rear spring.

The other problem with using Icon with less lift is that it runs out of compression travel faster. Mind you, it is a capable shock for short spruts. It can take a little bit of air with no bottoming out. But it cannot be pushed in the desert here, it just cannot take the punishment.

The resi would be better but it won't make sense with standard springs on the 6112. The strong spring plus Icon with resi would be a much better setup for offorad than the softer spring with the non resi Icon.
