Lead times have been steadily dropping since the supply chain has improved. We began a massive upgrade to our operations late last year, but the pandemic has made implementation much slower than we've hoped.

Shoot me a PM with your order info and I'll get you in touch with the right person. Those materials had severe shortages at times, and with them being made in-house as well we've been at the mercy of available inventory.

Truthfully, totally forgot they included a backpack

With that said, they do make good stuff so…….your money and time.

I'm going off of what I see being shipped in our headquarters, and lead times have been dropping steadily the last few months. American manufacturing has been volatile the last 18 months to say the least, but we're seeing positive signs of stability. Another reason I'm glad we don't charge customers until the order is finishing production.

I understand your job and all... but your lead times have been god-awful long before covid came around. I get that its convenient to blame C19... but this isnt the group to tell us that its raining. Tooting your own horns isnt a great sound... just tell us you know that you had problem before and are working hard to speed up the times.

I dont mind long lead times for a quality product. Especially when they are not charging your credit card until it ships. Really there is no risk.
Wish gobi would ship directly to canada. Using mail forwarder will cost me an arm for shipping and using a local dealer here they do some insane mark ups.

Not interested in anything from Gobi until lead times are realistic. Blaming them on the “pandemic” is B.S. because they have been terrible in 2018 and probably earlier.

I feel your pain, purchased a rack from them back in 2016 and I had to drive to North Dakota, to pick it up and payed huge duty upon returning to Canada. In saying this, it's def a great product...my rack is just starting to show surface rust after 5 years of ownership.

Hey
@ MillerPKA
I just submitted my name online for a stealth no rise rack and ladder combo. I am wondering if the sunroof insert is the same as the new modular "floor"? Will we technically be ordering 2-3 sunroof inserts for our floor? Asking because there's a 5th gen sunroof insert for sale locally which would mean I only need to buy 2 from you all instead of 3. Thanks, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! - Cat

Maybe its just me... but I think I would prefer you guys work on the lead time of your current racks(and orders) then pumping out a new group buy for new product. Again.. maybe it is just me.
|
Agreed. Hands down the WORST lead times I've ever seen and that was pre-covid. Not only was my lead time ridiculous, by the time my rack was supposed to be ready to ship they contacted me and extended it another 6 weeks.
Cancelled.
Gobi racks are fan boy racks. I bought a Prinsu that day and it arrived 4 days later. Now
Not to mention how about Gobi changing out their bolts from bright and shiny to black to actually match the freakin' rack color.

Hey
@ MillerPKA
... any answer to question above? Also... did I make the list for this rack? I have not gotten a call yet. Thanks and Happy New Year!

I'm very candid about what's needing improvement. I only joined last year so I can't comment firsthand prior, but no one is wrong in their complaints on lead times and customer service. I came on specifically to address and improve upon those.

Sorry for the delay! The sunroof insert is a different dimension than the 2 rear floor inserts but the size of the sunroof insert is the same on this open air vs the standard racks. Also, the front and rear floors are slightly different as the front integrates with the rack mounting bracket.
For your case you can buy the sunroof insert and would just need to grab the floor inserts to complete the set!

@ MillerPKA
, in terms of wind noise, how does this new rack with removable inserts compare to the old version?
1) old vs new with all inserts on
2) old vs new with all inserts off

Any plans on an aluminum version? I prefer basket style racks and would welcome the lighter weight up top.
