Rear dashcam owners - where did you mount rear camera?

Do you have a 2 channel dashcam system and if so where/how did you handle the rear camera? I'm leaning towards popping out the plastic trim piece in the center of the ceiling trim aka the 'blackvue' youtube video.

I purchased a viofo 139 i was originally planning to install in my wife's GLE 350 but thats a more difficult install and I want to make sure i've got the process down smoothly before I dare mess with her fung sheu

I've seen 4 positions so far:
  1. Mounted to frame underneath vehicle
  2. Top of ceiling trim (either screwed to bracket or double sided tape)
  3. Sitting on the lip of the hatchback trim (seems like this would be easy to bump/break)
  4. Drilled a hole in the spoiler

As a corollary; for anyone who mounted the camera internally, how well does it work through the rear window tint? It seems like the youtube videos i looked at where they mount the camera internally fail to show what it looks like in use going through the window tint.

I bolted mine to an L bracket that I slid under the headliner. I positioned it right of center so it lines up with the highest point the wiper reaches on the rear window. I can easily remove it if it's in the way when I load something.

I used a Blendmount with my Blackvue DR900X. The rear is mounted a 3D printed mount someone on here made.

Edit: I just noticed you specifically said rear. I need more coffee.
