And the dealer is wondering why no one is buying their “TRD PRO”

I’m not creating an account on Tundra forums just to post this, but it could just as easily have been a 4Runner…

So essentially, a Chevy dealer thinks anything with a TRD sticker on it is a TRD Pro model? I guess its an easy enough mistake to make for someone who doesn't pay attention to the truck market, but I'd like to hope a dealership would at least run the VIN and check the model before posting.

In my opinion, as a base model with TRD Sport pkg, its a decent truck minus those fender flares. Certainly not worth anything close to $65k.

I only hope some poor uneducated buyer doesn't pay asking price because they believe its a TRD Pro, only to find out the hard way when someone educates them later.

I worked in BMW parts for a LONG time. I recall one customer who ordered a bunch of parts for his 90 M3. Well a whole lot of them were wrong. Turns out he had a 318is, not an M3. Yet it was sold to his as an M3 with an M3 price. I mean anyone who knew BMW's knows an E30 M3 is a very special car and they do look quite a bit different than a regular E30. This guy unfortunately was not one of those people.

Either a customer who is from an area used to paying markups, or… I don’t even know what. Truck has sat several months. The south is truck country. We should know better. LOL!

I remember TRD Pro (actual TRD Tundras) going for $53k (MSRP) in 2018.

We had a local dealer busted for “up-badging” cars. Owners were two business partners who were forbidden from operating any car businesses thereafter.

Their wives took the business over, and it operates to this day.

Funny but true story went with my uncle who had a beat to hell Mercedes 300 sel he switched badges showing 500sel and told me to sit in the car and park it up hill from the Lexus dealer when I call let the car roll back to the front of us but don’t put it in reverse trans is shot just coast back then drive back the hill when I wave and wait
The salesman took his car in as the more expensive model and my uncle made a killer deal on a new Lexus
The salesman was fired but he was also the owners son so I don’t feel bad for him

Then there's my dealer: when I go in to buy an oil filter for my 1991 M3, and the parts guy tells me my car is an E36 and gets snippy when I have to tell him twice that it's an E30.

It's $62k and some change. I did the digital chat feature with the dealer just to see what they said when I pointed out the advertising problem. I was really nice about it but they stopped talking to me once I pointed it out. haha

Yup, its a whole new world for vehicle pricing right now. I bought a new 18 F150 for $47k Canadian about 3 years ago (Sticker was $60k). I decided to sell it a year later as the US market was hot due to shortages and I wanted a T4R for offroading instead. I used the Ford Pass app to track the truck as it went south to an auction house, then sold to a dealer in another state. When I found the listing for my used truck on the dealer website it was posted for $47k USD and sold within a week.
