Remote Start Options

I’ve seen several affordable aftermarket remote start options out there but has anyone installed one on there 4Runner and had a good experience. I’d like something that’s plug and play and something that can be removed. I don’t want to void my Toyota warranty.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Just installed the Computstar 915S One-Way. Had the original key fob sync with the auto-start so I can use both the kit’s and OEM key. Works great.

Here is my question for OP - why not just go w OEM if you are concerned? I think it’s a bit more dough but Toyota parts.

I had a horrible experience with 12Volt Solutions, do not recommend them at all. I switched to Accessorides and have had no issues in almost 4 years, I added the cell phone module and app later and love it. Highly recommend Accessorides for a truly plug and play great solution

I just installed a Compustar T13 alarm/remote start. Fantastic remote start/alarm and fully compatible with wiring kits so no warranty issues. I can even program it to roll up/down my windows!

Any of the Compustar remote start/alarms are great. They have lots of options for price and range.

Basically the cost. The cost difference between Toyotas system and the aftermarket is crazy.

The OEM Toyota unit shuts the vehicle off when you first open the door. Major deal breaker for me personally.

Curious what made your experience so bad? Customer service or the product itself, both?

Why? It does what is supposed to do. Heat or cool down the car. And only pts shuts down. Not key

Not sure how much a Toyota system is but my Compustar T13 was 1k installed. 3mi range alarm and start.

I wouldn't go Toyota ether. Shutting down when you unlock? Yay early starter failure. lol Aftermarket is much more capable and can do so much more.

I went with the accesorides remote start kit. Took about 30 minutes to install and works great. I can start it with my OEM fob by clicking the lock button 3 times. The door can be opened and it won’t kill the engine. If the key isn’t inserted into the cylinder and you attempt to shift out of park it kills the car. It was exactly what I was looking for and couldn’t be happier. Start up in the morning why I get make my coffee and it’s nice and warm inside.
