Still, I'm not looking for aggressive AT tires. I'm not interested in typical ATs at all. The Cooper Discovers would be my limit and are still overkill. I just need enough for the occasional fire roads as most of the time the truck is used on road trips to the mountains or is our lumber getter. This truck is 90% road use now so I'm looking for something that handles better (not as jarring over bumps and holes) and is less noisy than typical ATs but still has enough grip to do some minor exploring. Everything I've read about the Defenders indicate that they are good for that but I wanted some advice from people with T4Rs that have had them. I read a write up from someone that does some pretty major overland type trips with either a Land Cruiser or LR5 (can't recall) with them and it was very positive - I just can't find the link.
I'm also interested in clawing back some torque the truck has lost with the larger, heavier AT tires and hoping the Michelins will do that.

But, hey, at least @Jakeepoo3 was able to come here and swing his dick a bit.
Haha I only do that for my lady! What I'm doing is making sure people aren't listening to your misrepresentation of the wildpeaks. They are excellent tires and don't have the issues you talk about. Perhaps you shouldn't run stiffer suspension if you don't like a little more road feedback or maybe you should inflate the tires properly.. This tire has a wide range of acceptable inflation pressure. Notice the comments asking you what psi you're running.. How much torque did you lose a 1/4 ft/lb? I'll give you $100 for them.

Yes, stick to the LTX. Hands down the best all around road tire. They are amazing in wet conditions and ride super well. We are on our second set for my wife. First set lasted almost 70k miles.

No one asked me about PSI. They were asking the guy with the duratracs.
I'm in the mid-30s usually (cold weather and whatever insane amount the jackasses that service it put in it would alter it each direction).

Its great that you don't think they're loud. I do. Wife does. That's all that matters.

You're right that I shouldn't run a stiffer suspension but the Eibach wasn't supposed to be all that much stiffer than stock. I just don't think they have the proper dampening for 4Runners. After I bought them I figured out that Eibach hadn't really done much if any testing on the 4Runner based on a phone call I had with them.

We also have different use cases. I don't go offroad much anymore (easy camping trips a few times a year) and I live in the rockies. Driving at altitude already kills the 4.0. Add bigger tires and it gets worse. Together I just don't need 33" ATs.

At least it's paid off.
I was going to say "at least they'll look somewhat acceptable in the bigger size LOL. The LTX are great tires. Can't beat them for what you want.

It's very common for tires to start riding and driving like crap as they wear out no matter how suspension is modified. You saying "Falkens never have issues OP is wrong and spreading misinformation" is actually spreading misinformation. He didn't come on here to make up a negative review on your beloved Falkens. He has a legitimate common issue and was looking for opinions. The Wildpeaks are good tires, but there are plenty of negative reviews of them on here as well. Same with KO2s, same with Toyos, etc.

You may lose a slight amount of MPG, but ride quality to me would be more important than losing 25 miles per tank.

For future, these rigs IMO run best in a C load tire. Move to a stiffer D or even stiffer E, and you really have to drop psi to make a comfortable drive, but then again, it all depends on what you do with your rig on the regular.
I just wanted to try the skinny Duratracs for winter driving. I have been running BFG KO2's for years (6 ply) on my 4R's & other 4x4's and have had excellent service from them. Also tried the 6 ply Cooper Discoverer AT ? on my 10' 4R & I didn't like them as much as the BFG's. Many on this forum don't like the BFG's, but I guess that I am a "fan boy".

KO2's are without a doubt the best all around performing tire on the planet. IMO, Nittos without a doubt are the fan boy tire of choice, no matter the flavor.

Try dropping your psi to 30-32 and see if there is improvement.

I've run KO2's on my JKU x 2, Expedition x 2, F150, Excursion and soon, my new to me 4Runner. Rotations and slightly lower psi than you might think make all the difference. I've gotten at least 40k miles of of each set (Excursion due to weight) and up to 54k on my last JKU.

They do look pretty dumb. Mostly b/c of the lift. Oh well. Ride so much quieter and smoother.
