Light (?) Above Rear Tailgate
Aloha,
Just curious, what is the translucent panel above the rear window (on the overhang) for? It looks like it could be a light cover, which would be really cool to have a rear area light, but I don't think so.
Thanks!

Folks, no need to make fun of him
My own father had no idea why the stealership wanted to charge him $ to replace the brake light on the '07...I explained to him about the purpose of having a third brake light. Actually, I think back in the day cars only had two lights so I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case with my father

I’m old enough to remember that.
Third brake lights have been mandated on cars in the US since 1986. This shouldn’t be a fkn mystery to anyone at this point.

Well, most of the lenses are red, these are not. Still a funny post.

Hey, I’m old enough to remember when only one light on the back was legal! All the new cars had two taillights back then, but there were still a few cars from the 1930s on the roads where I lived, and many of them came with one rear light as standard equipment.

You know what would make for a killer mod?
A replacement LED panel up there that was 50% red lights and 50% downward-facing white lights that could be independently switched.
There are ~1,000 threads on here talking about rearward lighting and it always ends up with "the spoiler makes it hard to get light behind the vehicle."
So Meso Customs, ArcLight, OldRed ... get busy!!!

That's wild! Haha. We really have it good today with 3 sets of lights with the brake light as a precautionary safety feature for nighttime driving
