Please recommend OBD scanner

I need a scanner for my '16 SR5 and '17 Tacoma general diagnosis but also to check the transmission temperature. Anyone can recommend a good one for Toyotas?

I bought this one of these off amazon and have been very pleased. It links to the app on my T9 and i can diagnose and reset codes. i can also use it with Carista to customize my 4runner. Ive used it on a 16 mustang, 2010 nissan frontier, 2010, 2015 and 2019 4runners.

I just use this gadget when needed and the Dash Command App. Seems to work pretty good.

I have a scangauge II. It's great for checking codes and monitoring AT temp and water temp.

Strangely enough my new Kenwood receiver pulls codes and can even reset them.

Also can create gauges for info you want to pull like intake temp. Even tire temp and pressure.

Another vote for OBD2 MX+. Pulls codes on ‘12 Limited, tried to use to relearn new TPMS sensors with Carista but Carista just doesn’t do it.

The ODB2 MX+ has tons of app support and was able to pull and reset all the codes I needed.

A third vote for the OBD Link MX+.

You can also look at transmission pan and torque converter transmission fluid temp with this device. Required for transmission fluid change.

I also use a OBD Link MX+, it is worth the higher price.
"Torque" App shows transmission pan and torque converter transmission fluid temp, gear / torque converter lockup etc.
Only for reading the TPMS i have to use an other App "OBDLink".

Which PID did you use. I have 2017 and couldn’t locate the A/T temperature PID.

I like the Scanguage 2. It is attached all the time. Gives 4 display readings.
It mounts out of the way with supplied velcro on top of steering column. Custom X guages can be programed.
I use it for tranny temp in mountains on hot days . I bought a second cable so I can connect it to other vehicles and leave my mounting cable zip tied under dash on my SR5.
I can see all 4 tire temps at a glance to catch a tire issue before it becomes dangerous, especially roadways with no lanes to move into out of traffic lanes. Or highways with steep shoulders and ditches.
Cannot load pics today.
