It's exclusively a style preference. I prefer the look of the top pic more than the lower pic. I'm just not a fan of the fat balloon tire look. I like a sharper profile, more in line with the size and cut of the rims as opposed to round. I just don't see a T4R as a soft, round-type of 4x4. My ORP looks pretty much just like yours in the top pic with 265 tires. I could have put on 285s or any size that could fit, I just prefer the look of the KO2 265s. I'll admit the stock TRD Pro tires aren't as rugged looking as KO2, I still would keep those until they needed replacing. When I upgraded, I'd still pick 265. I totally understand why the majority prefers the "biggest is best" look. It's definitely the more popular look. it's just not for me. And functionally, 285s would not perform better for my driving conditions, they would actually make performance worse.
