2020/21/22 - important changes?

Sorry if this is similar to another post I made about Safety Sense...We were originally looking at the 2017-19 TRD ORP to save some money over the newer models, but decided if we keep it anywhere near as long as our '99, might as well start with something with more of the tech/safety upgrades on the 2020+ model years. Other than Toyota Safety Sense and the upgraded infortainment head unit and instrument panel info screen they added to the 2020 model, what other changes were made on the '21 and '22 model years? Little things, like does the tire pressure monitor show individual tire pressure so you know which one to air up, or just alert you then one is low but you have to figure it out? Does all this tech work as advertised and genuinely useful, or more gimmicky to just try and keep up with the competition?

LED headlights were finally introduced in the 2021 model year which are leaps and bounds better than the halogen predecessor.

Blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and lane departure warning (no correction as the steering is hydraulic) were added for 22.

So the TSS system evolved since it was first added in 2020.

2022 also adds multi display monitor (front, side, and 360 camera views) for certain trims despite the quality/resolution being crappy

Not a fan of the nanny systems and I personally think Toyota has some ways to go before it is where it should be with Safety Sense. That's partly why I bought a 2019.

You can also do so many aftermarket mods that are far supereor.

I ended up adding a Kenwood head unit that does way more. Not only does it have individual tire pressure but also has individual tire temp and can actually read and reset codes. Has a ton of other stuff too.

I think it's an option for the LE and Pro.

Interesting...I thought the gauge display is where the tire pressure was displayed, but maybe that was just for the old Idiot Light.

I was against all the electronics too, thought one more thing to break, I don't NEEEED it, someone can hack my truck easier, etc. But as I've gotten older, and had a few close calls living in San Francisco, where drivers have mostly lost their MINDS, TSS is starting to sound like a worthwhile upgrade, if it works as advertised. Who knows, maybe the Insurance rates will be less.

Its definitely getting there, and good that some embrace it even with its minor flaws. But still has a ways to go to not be annoying, over controlling and consistent.

2020/21/22 - important changes?

Speaking of nanny systems I think in another thread we already confirmed the safety sense yells at you but doesn’t actually stop your car. So if you are swarmed at a stoplight by a mob, you can still get away.

However, unlike other manufacturers, disabling these systems such as Lane Departure have persistence across restarts, so you don’t need to dig through menus or hit 14 buttons every time you get in.

And, looks like you can adjust the "Nanny-ness" of it, or simply turn it off.
