Where id you mount your catch can? I am pretty slim on extra space lol. Also, did you change your radiator when you did your URD install? or see any real need for a radiator upgrade?

I had the catch can mounted to the engine fender area by the brake. When the supercharger was installed, I had a conflict so I mounted it to the supercharger intercooler fill bracket. I can easily empty it by loosening the clamp, lifting it up and twisting off the bottom. There are threaded holes in the fender area that I used to mount it originally. The fused distribution block was also added when the supercharger was installed.

The supercharger intercooler is a separate sub system from the radiator. It has its own radiator and pump that mounts in front of the regular radiator. I have not had a chance to evaluate the temps yet. I have considered a larger radiator...... we will see what happens this summer.

Thanks. unfortunately that spot is occupied for me since I have a switchpros there. I guess I will have to wait till I install the supercharger, then see if I have space for a catch can anywhere.

Mods that should be done at the same time as magnuson supercharger install?

Check out JLT, they make a catch can kit for our engines. It mounts to a bolt towards the front of the engine. I’m not running one with my blower so I’m not sure if it can still be used as intended after the blower install. I’m also not sure if it will work in that location with the added accessory drive.

I had the TRD supercharger on my 2014 Tacoma.
I wouldn’t do an pulley off the bat, save that for later when you have had it awhile and you want a little more. Not a lot you can do with the Magnuson/TRD later anyway…..trust me wait till later, it will make you love it all over again

•Oil catch can
•Trans cooler
•Transmission valve body upgrade•••• Mods that should be done at the same time as magnuson supercharger install? percent worth cost!
•Scan gauge II at the very least for monitoring temps
•Intake and exhaust if you don’t already have….makes a huge difference with the blower.

•If you want headers, look into TacomaWorld post on custom made and tune header. A forum member used to make them…Rooster something or other. Factory aftermarket headers can be hit or miss and drone horribly. Amazing sound. This guys work is amazing dynoed most/consistent gains out of 2 other major brands.

•On the Tacoma a higher flow fuel pump a good idea, I don’t think the 4Runner needs as I believe it has higher flow pump to start

It seems unfortunately there is no pulley upgrade available and no valve body upgrade.

I did end up buying a chf radiator though

OP I just dropped of my 4R today for the Magnuson install. Where did you get your upgraded tensioning hose clamps??? How much are you paying for install? I'm paying $1200. Thanks for the info.

+1 on the transmission cooler for OP

Some armor, lift, tires, and basic performance mods on mine (not supercharged) and already see trans temps over 220F easily in the summer.. closer to 240F offroad.. Trans cooler now has it back down to a nice ~180F

Also did a transmission fluid change (with filter) at ~60k and was probably the best *mod* in terms of driving improvement!

Amazon.com: Breeze CT-9410 Aero-Seal Constant Torque Liner Clamp with Stainless Screw Effective Diameter Range: 9/16" - 1-1/16" (14mm - 27mm) : Industrial & Scientific

Will be doing the install myself, so not paying anyone. I work on cars a lot, so install should be relatively easy just a tedious process.

Thanks! I will be doing a CSF radiator at the same time which should help it some. I a=will also monitor temps with a scanguge and see how it goes. Since it is also cold here(was -13F last week) I also need to worry about the trans fluid getting too cold so it needs to be sort of a balance. If temps get bad though I will def add a trans cooler.

The cold weather would help in your case.

FYI, it is best to add the Trans aux cooler in-line with (i.e. after) the OEM radiator exchanger as it also has the duty of warming the trans fluid after startup.

That's why you would normally find the transmission fluid temp close to or above water coolant temp. of ~185F. Ideal ATF temp would be between ~160F and 190F

Coincidentally I actually saw a Speed Academy video of his review of the magnuson on his 4runner, and he mentioned adding a trans cooler and he had to tape the front of it completely covered because in cold weather the trans would never get to proper temp.
