Here’s the updated photo with 3” OME lift, 255/80 17 Wildpeaks (40 psi). Rides great! No wheel vibration.

Iim probably behind folks on the internet here, but just learned that here in the states all the duratracs are only 2 ply sidewalls now....so, those just got scratched off my list. all of ours were 3 ply.

AT3Ws are noticeably better in the rain. I used to have to be careful going around turns in the rain with my KO2s or the rear end would slide, AT3Ws don’t miss a beat. No real rocks around here so the E vs C rating isn’t much of a factor for me.

I would love to see a picture of this setup from the front/back to see how the offset of those tires on stock rims look. I have the identical OME lift but am running wheels with 0 offset with 285 70R17 AT3W's and would like to see the comparison.

I have Falken on my 4R and BFG on my Tacoma and I can't tell the difference between the two. I drive in mud, rain, ice and snow. I think they are both great choices and think it comes down to which one you think looks better, availability and price point.
I used crawl control to reverse my 4R into 3 feet of snow because I wanted to see how well it worked. I tried to drive out in 4Lo before activating crawl and it drove right out. I couldn't even get it stuck trying!
I keep seeing ads for Hercules tires on the car repair shows and like how they look. I'm tempted to try them on my FJ40.

Off Topic,
But I love my General Grabbers 285/65/18 E rating, almost 35k miles.
They have great traction on pavement and off road. From what people say about the KO2s in the rain, the Grabbers handle wonderfully. Only every tested it in snow in a few times and it is able to get traction and carry us over the hills. Obviously traction on ice is iffy. The tires do come with a snowflake rating, but I think its more for show rather than actual winter conditions.
Im stuck between Grabbers or Wildpeaks for my next set.

265/70 R17 AT3 Wildpeaks P rated
This is a common decision to make - I picked Wildpeak and have not turned back. I'm in Southern California and drive a 13 Trail 4Runner as my daily. I spend 3-5 weeks/year overlanding - Southern Utah, North Rim Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Eastern Sierra (great fly fishing), Death Valley, Anza Borrego, etc. Mainly hiking and fishing. Not much mud or wet conditions.
I have aired down to 15psi to crawl over some difficult sections, mostly on BLM land although the national park land 'roads' are generally worse. The thinner sidewalls have not let me down.
Since nobody is using both tires (same size/rating/vehicle) in the same places and times and comparing directly its impossible to compare. For the conditions that I travel in I've had a great experience with them. They have good on road performance and have not let me down off road across 3-4 trips/year for 6 years now (on my 2nd set.)
Note - I used different tires on my 84 Toy truck that was set-up for crawling. I was usually looking for the most challenging obstacles and usually broke something. 10-12 psi,LT tires with better traction. I would not be using Wildpeaks for this application.
Note -I use to run th e

Hated the KO2s, they were horrible in rain and no confidence. Fine for dry, so if you live in a wet / wet snow area like the pacific NW I don't recommend.
Upgraded to Wildpeaks, never looked back. Wet traction not an issue anymore. And they are quieter on the hwy than the ko2

They have a certain look that’s just classic. Totaled vehicle? Not so much.
Hate the new KO2 loved the old KO

KO2's The 2 stands for 20k. That's about the mileage everyone complains or scraps them..

We just got Wildpeaks in 275 due to supply up here in AK. We would have gone with 285 KO2's but we couldn't get them up here in time without paying double in shipping.
We went through a bit of a balancing issue at first with the Wildpeaks, they have done pretty well in the snow and ice, no complaints. Our roads here are awful, combine that with the 8 months of ice and snow... heavy tires that can take some elements are what we needed.
We also have Toyo AT2's on our Crosstrek and are beyond thrilled with them. They have been put to the test (for what we can reasonably do in a Trek) for three years now and have never had to worry.

i personally have wildpeak falkens and they have suffered trail riding while having a nail and screw in the drive sides tires and they haven't leaked air yet, very reliable and hard to stop. haven't hydroplaned in them either

I loved my 285 Wildpeaks. My 275' have never been balanced well. Had them rotated once and balanced 4 times and still a shimmy form 50-60. Super annoying. Since the idiots of Dallas Discount Tire can't balance them I'm going to let the Flagstaff DT try it tomorrow while I'm here.

Picked some tires going on today.
Really wanted 255 80 17, but limited stock and general availability had me back at 285’s. Its a shame that everyone wants “some rimz and meats” because 255 is a better size for these trucks imo. Oh well.
Duratracs are down to 2 ply now, so i ruled those out. Went back and forth on others with load range and weight…. Ended up getting the wrangler territory MT from the bronco in 285.
Not much info on them out there, but they are a 3 ply, and only 45lbs C load. And they were in stock…..it was down to these and the AT3W’s, decided to try these because of the weight savings of nearly 15lbs a corner.
I guess we’ll see how they go.
Edit:
First few hundred on the Wrangler Territory MT
