Rented an SR5 last week -- current Limited owner and previous ORP

thought I'd drop a quick post with my thoughts on this. Net: I was really surprised by how great the SR5 drove. Put 200+ miles on it in all conditions down in socal last week (random rental with Avis -- thought I was getting a highlander). My ORP had KDSS and my Limited has XREAS. Honestly the bone stock SR5 suspension was amazing. Great at everything. Hightway, city, canyons, fire roads.
- Cloth seats rock
- I bought the limited for the AWD but honestly the steering feel of the part-time 4wd is better when you aren't driving those front wheels
- Ride/handling balance on the SR5 is great. Rides better than my limited. I just picked up some ORP 17s yesterday so I'm going to take wheels/tires out of the equation.
- 2021 backup camer seems better -- this isn't an SR5 thing

Net: for those if you with SR5s: I hadn't really given them much thought but y'all might be "winning".

Cool thanks for posting.
I have a 2011 SR5 and recently drove a coworkers 2021 Limited, and I really enjoyed it.
It felt a little more planted and I could feel the road more with the 20" wheels and lower profile tires.
It definitely felt like a more refined overall experience, and an upgrade in and out visually compared to my 2011 SR5 though, more technology etc.
I sure hope Toyota doesn't screw up the next 4runner.
Edit – my 2011 has the sketchy emergency braking nosedive, I wonder when and how they addressed that.

X-REAS and 20s will certainly stiffen the ride compared to the SR5. First thing I did when I got my Limited was 17s and rip out X-REAS for aftermarket suspension.

Yeah, my 17s (ORP) are going on tonight. Curious to see how that changes things. I don't mind the Limited being a bit more "tightly damped" and really like the reduced brake nose-dive compared to my old ORP.

Odd though that the SR5 didn't have bad brake dive either. My primary point of the post was just to celebrate the core goodness of the SR5. Great truck.

Glad to see an unbiased view of non-KDSS suspension. So many people here have convinced themselves they NEED it or are continuing to justify spending more for Kdss.

I had a kdss orp (2015) as well as kdss on my gx470. The bigger sway bar helps flatten cornering on the street but the sr5 seemed pretty darn close. I was surprised. I found a much bigger delta driving gx’s with and without back in ‘07.
