Don't go by physical height

We looked at an ORP with the moonroof and I didn't have enough headroom in the passenger seat. I'm 6'1", but it's how our height is embodied. Those with short legs and a long torso won't find sufficient headroom in the passenger seat.

Talked with two welding shops about modifying the seat mount but couldn't get an answer as they need to see it without the plastic covering. Toyota sucks at their seat height. Had to go without a moonroof in my 88 and 07. Momma would like one but I need adequate headroom when she drives. So, it's wait until one comes in without the moonroof.

We had that problem with our '99. I was able to recline the drivers seat just enough to keep the left side of my head from hitting the ceiling without feeling like I was leaning back too far to drive. I assume you tried that on the passenger side? I'm 5'11" with 30" inseam, so longer torso than some.

I still go back and forth about the moonroof, but that is mostly predicated on how the weather is in Humboldt. My ORP had a moonroof but as it had 600 miles on it before someone blew a red light and flipped it and in the aftermath I was lucky enough that my dealer went above and found a Venture with KDSS and no moonroof.

No height adjustments sadly.

But tilting it might help for taller folks

To the original poster you should be fine if you had a moon roof in your 3rd gen. Am 6' and have no problems with head clearance. Decided to buy mine at the last minute. Did not want a moon roof but most sliding cargo decks come with a moon roof. The sliding cargo deck keeps from scratching your paint when loading heavy, bulky items in the rear.

Been using the moon roof a lot this winter but now have started using the AC now that warmer temperatures are back here in Florida.
good luck in your search....Jim

Thanks Jim! We went with the moonroof on our ORP, picked it up a week ago today. No issues at all. Wish we could also have gotten that cargo deck too, but they don't seem to add them to allotments out here and didn't have the time to fly out of the area.
