Who's feeling the pain at the pump with 4R ?

I have a 2020 TRD ORP and am retired so no longer commuting 400 miles/ week to work and back. I fill up 4R now maybe once a month, only use to haul bikes to the trailhead take dog to AT for a walk and run errands. However I reliaze others still have to work for a living so are any of you considering selling your 4R for something more fuel efficient or buying a second vehicle that is more fuel efficient ? I also have a 2007 Camry that I use on occasion, was daughters car and she got a newer one, dealer didn't offer her much for car on trade so she gave to me.
It's actually still a really nice car, Camry XLE V6, runs perfect. It was funny to see expression on dealers face when she said she'll take new car but give her old car to me. They wanted to steal her trade.

i don't use it often or drive a lot so it does not really matter. my daughter in high school just filled out her car around 11 gallons and paid almost $50. she was so surprised. lol!

I work from home, but my wife doesn't. $100 to fill either car is going to be a kick in the pants no matter how many times you have to do it. But, no. I'm not contemplating selling as it really doesn't make sense to still. It's a difference of $50-$100/month and we need the bigger cars with the kids. Hope it'll go back to normal soon.

Even worse is home heating oil right now. $5.15/gal today. When I moved into my house in 2015 it was $1.69. Minimum order of 150 gallons or they charge you way more. Thank god it's March or we'd be dropping a years worth of oil costs in 6-8 weeks.

Work from home, thank you Covid.

My gains on oil stocks purchased at the bottom of market during Covid, dwarf anything I will pay at the pump.

Yeah. Well realistically when it's $0.40/mile to take the 4Runner anywhere highway (worse in city) versus $0.10/mile to take our hybrid anywhere (better in city), we don't take the 4Runner out much....

Except to the mall, of course.

I remember trucker's protests and convoys in mid-90th when gas crossed $1
then in mid-00th everybody was talking about gas jumping up to $4 and crossing $5 in CA, a few years back it came down briefly to $1, and now it is again just under $4.
Google says it is about $6-6.50 in Europe...
Keep watching

The 4Runner gets better MPG than four of the vehicles in our garage. It will continue to be driven when we want to drive it.

Fuel prices being high is annoying because it doesn't have to be that way. If we just continued oil and gas production as it was a couple years back we'd be fine.

We were energy independent, now we're not.

Now we're paying countries to ship us oil, and some of those counties should not be getting our business.

I work from home. So it's not a huge issue for me. But if I were commuting it would be.

Fun side thought: I sold my F250 in November. It held 40 gallons. At $5/gal, it's $200 per tank. It would go 6-700 miles if you could run through a whole tank without breaking down. lol. I only used it for towing, hauling, and supporting the tow truck companies when it was being towed home on a flatbed. So it wasn't a big fuel cost to me. My brother in law commutes to work in a Tundra on 35s. He's spending on the order of $6-800 a month for commuting fuel. That would pretty easily cover the monthly cost of a commuter car EV. He makes plenty of $, so it's not a hardship. But it probably is for a lot of folks who don't need to be driving full size trucks as commuter cars. If these prices hold up long run - I think we'll finally see a price correction as the full size trucks go on the used market. It'll take a few months for the pain to finally drive the folks who commute in them to sell em though. I'm already seeing LC200's and LX570's hitting the classifieds.

I recently traded in a 2017 Armada for my 4Runner. I'm more relieved than anything right now--that pig averaged 14mpg on a good day.

I hope that will not happened... at least in my lifetime...

P.S. I am probably biased to some degree... because I am from Kiev, Ukraine..
