Unhappy Metallic rattle sound

Ever since a snow storm this past winter (may not be related but just a coincidence), there is a rattle that comes when I am braking around 15 - 10mph sort of like a heat shield / brake shield.. it lasts for a split second and then goes away when I reach 0. I can feel a slight vibration (i think) and hear it even with the windows closed.

I have gotten the car and all those skid plates looks secure, I tried to shake the brake heat shields, but they seem secure too. Any ideas?

Yeah rotate the tires and see if there are pebbles stuck in the dust shield and inspect the pads/shims, caliper pin. If it was exhaust it would do it when you accelerate not brake I think. Could try taking off the skids and see if there something rattling around on top of it.

I had something similar on mine. It was the loudest when reversing slowly out of my driveway.
It was the dust shield on the front brakes, can’t remember which side.
Crawled underneath and gave it a tiny push out and problem solved. This may help…

the plastic fender shields around the tires probably rattle .. Toyota used plastic fasteners to hold the shields ..I setup s/steel fasteners to lock up those plastic shields .. because the plastic shields fastener will wear the paint fender under the plastic shields ...moves ...
but the brakes do not rattle the plastic shields under the fenders..
