Arrived, perfect shape. Quality seems good. Hilariously came with trd emblems but doesn't have a cut out. I probably won't install these

Mine also came with an extra set of hardware in a gallon ziploc bag. Seems like it was a return or something.

I added the hardware but unnecessary. The setup here is wrong. Spacers go towards the front

I reused old hardware towards the back of the vehicle. Included hardware was too long. Perfect for front with spacers though

Worth the $180 to me. Very happy with it

Solid feedback. Just what I was looking for. I guess I'll be ordering one in the very near future. Thanks for sharing.

Or RTD emblems according to their lawyers I bet. That is pretty hilarious though.

Looks really good especially with the silver lower bumper like that.

So, I ordered the same skid plate as @ldchien off Amazon for $180. Just took delivery of it today and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed so far.

It's painted or primed, can't decide which but it is not bare aluminum. It's thick. Like 1/4" thick. It's heavier than I thought it would be. I'm betting it's heavier than the OEM plate. The hardware looks to be galvanized which is nice, but I still may swap it out for stainless. The instructions are pretty good and in plain English not that this is a difficult installation part where detailed instructions are needed. The only part I'd say is they don't tell you which bolts to use the spacers on but that's been covered previously in the thread. Mine didn't come with the TRD letters which is fine by me, wasn't going to use them anyway. I feel like this thing could take a pretty good whack and be ok.

I picked up some spray-on 3M undercoat to make it black that I'll start applying tomorrow and will update this after the installation.

Ok, so I have an anomaly and hope y'all can shed some light. The weather has been crap so I haven't been able to crawl under the truck and figure out what's what.

The plate I ordered came with 4 bolts to mount it that are M10x1.25 and about 45mm in length. The remnants of fasteners I removed to take off the OEM plate are varying lengths due to being sheered and mismatched but are M8x1.25.

What size are the OEM skid plate bolts? Just the 4 that actually hold on the plate, not the ancillary ones for the plastic air damn? All I have been able to find is that they're M8x1.25 and 20mm long. I've looked them up by part # and don't get the specs on any parts website.

@ldchien , you said you only used 2 of the bolts and the spacers that came with it because the other 2 were too long. That's fine but did you have an issue with size other than the length?

Thanks.

I'll be honest in that I have no idea on the actual bolt dimensions, but this plate does not mount to threads of the original bolt holes. It mounts to the bolts of the frame support which will need to be removed. I pulled this image from this site:

Car Trim Home TRD Skid Plate Review & Install For 5th Gen 4Runner

I used the bolts and spacers included with the plate on the 2 bolts closest to the radiator. I reused the existing frame support bolts for the rear.

Ooohhhh! Frickin' LIGHT BULB! Thanks a ton. I was very confused looking at the stuff I pulled off and what I was sent. The instructions make some more sense to me now as I had an assumption that the new fasteners went where the old ones went. Looking at it in that pic, the spacers make sense now too.

The saga continues...

This plate is not compatible with a diff drop...

Turns out, my rig has a diff drop and I didn't recognize what it was...being new to a vehicle sucks...

Now on to finding spacers that will drop the rear bolts of the plate enough and deciding if I want to add a spacer for the front bolts

Can I suggest instead of spending hours trying to get the cheapest rip off copy of an already sub par design to work, that you contact one of the many reputable USA made manufacturers of aftermarket armor for our vehicles...

Most other skids will have access doors for oil changes so the plate doesn't have to come off with each oil change.

Here's one of many threads dealing with Diff Drop / Skids issue:
Diff Drop and skid plate

Thanks for the input. Not interested. As stated in post#1, the Amazon sourced plate is more than satisfactory for my application. PO installed equipment is my obstacle, not a so-called sub-par product. The diff drop installed on my rig is incorrectly done to begin with and is the source of my initial issue. It is being resolved.
