needle bearing, front diff - listen and feel
When you test drive - listen and feel for needle bearing and front diff gears problems. After warm up, get it up to about 45 and let off the gas. Listen and feel for vibration down to about 35. There's a TSB.....

Thank you, will do.. Is this for Limited diffs? Arent they different than the other 4runners?
Good thing, warranty is still valid on powertrain too, for 6k miles.. doubt there is any issue with powertrain.

I believe the Ltds have the same differentials. Transfer Case is the difference. They get Full Time 4wd instead of Part Time

If so, that begs the question of how difficult it would be to add the Torsen Differential to an ORP/SR5.
I do not remember ever reading about someone doing so, but wouldn’t surprise me totally. If folks have but solid axles in the front…

What is a Torsen diff vs any other option? Is that referring to the front diff, or a viscous coupling in the transfer case?
My 1995 JGC has an NV249 with only two modes, 4 full time and 4 lo. It has a viscous coupling. Never gotten stuck in anything in hi range. And I don’t even think it’s got limited slip.

Torsen is a brand name of a specific type of center pumpkin section of diff.
Wr have LSD(air, hydraulic and mechanical locking), Detroit Lockers, Open, posiitractiin, torsen. So many types out there that move cars.
All it comes down to, what is best for your type of driving and needs.
Torsen(R) Traction

Is this the Limited you were talking about?
Did the dealer sell it missing the trim piece below the clock??

Yes, I did not even notice it. It was both our faults. I am going back there to talk to them.
I think the dash was taken apart, no other reason to do be missing.
I was trying to find the parts online, and the toyota pictures arent very good.
Any idea if these parts are even available?

It's a really odd piece to be missing, and would be curious as to why!
I'm sure you could get a replacement with a trip to the dealer's Parts Department.

someone probably had an aftermarket head unit in there. some require the trim around the vent control (also missing) and the top piece to be transferred over. wonder if previous owner put back the original head unit and didn't bother swapping the trim
