2012 Trail Edition Front Bumper Style

Hello guys!

I've finally managed(waiting for it for a long time) to buy 2012 Trail Edition on auction. And it will arrive in 2 or three months time.

Problem is there is a front bumper missing and i want to get parts before it arrives. And I'm trying to find out if the 2012 SR5 front bumper is the same as Trail edition front bumper. I've searched a lot but didn't get clear answers anywhere.

Hope u guys can help me.

P.s. I also intend to install front bull bar. Custom made as ARB is hella expensive from where i live. So will that make any difference in case SR5 and Trail front bumpers are different?

Congrats on finding a Trail! I have a 2013, I love the early look.

I think the Trail bumper cover is essentially an SR5 cover with extra black trim.

I did a quick search, and found SR5 and Trail bumper covers listed in the 3-400 dollar range, but it was not exactly clear if they had the black trim, or just the holes for it. It might take some digging on your part, but hopefully you can find one to complete the look.

I think a few members have done Trail conversions on SR5s, so maybe search for that to see if there's any info on bumper fitment.

Hey man. Thanks for taking ur time and answering. Just to be sure what u mean with the black trim?

Also i found this on Toyota website. Can you, if you can find time, take a look? like do they have the same bumpers from the schematics?

Like, I'm not good with the car stuff sadly(yet trying to learn tho) but it seems as if they are the same, right?

Nope

They are essentially not even close to being the same.

Here are a couple of pictures from shortly after I bought my SR5 and now as a cloned Trail.
The SR5 bumpers have the "ground" effects molded into the bumpers with the chrome. The does not, allows a steeper approach and departure.

Here is what I used when I converted my SR5 to a Trail:

TE Parts Needed to Convert SR5/Limited Exterior

I used a local Toyota parts distributor which gave a 20% off and allows me to pick up to save on shipping.

Check your area before ordering. You can still or from any Toyota parts department but not all Toyota dealers are parts distributors.

Okay wow. I can see that now clearly. Thank you for the info. Well finding the parts is not as easy here. As im from the Georgia the country. And well u can guess my budget is tight as f. So how it goes here is that there are people who buy and dismantle wrecked cars and the sell the parts. But most of them are SR5s. Trail edition parts seems to be rare find.

So would u happen to know if sr5 bumper can be fitted on it? You see im gonna install custom made bull bar. U know the kind arb makes that requires half of thr bumper to be cut off anyway. And from the pics it looks like the top part of the sr5 and trail bumpers are nearly same.

P.s. also sorry if i said something stupid since im really a total noob when it comes to the specifics of the vehicles.

No worries

No worries man.

Check out the pic. For whatever reason I could not add it as a link. These guys are a parts distributor as well as a dealership.
I have ordered from them before.

Some internal bumper parts that are different are: inner fender wells, little brackets that are pop riveted to the aluminum internal bumper, just to mention a few.

Hey Firesq14, I am looking to convert my 2012 SR5 front bumper to the Trail bumper just like you did with your 2011. Was the Trail bumper (part number 52119-35910) completely compatible with your 2011 SR5 when you did this swap? Or did you have to do any special modifications to the trail front bumper to fit it to your model?

Here is the link to the Trail bumper I am planning to purchase: 2012 Toyota 4RUNNER Bumper. Cover. Front l/p. Upper. 2010-13 - 5211935910 | Toyota Parts Overstock, Lakeland FL)

I also want to paint the trail bumper to match the rest of my car rather than leave it black, is that possible?

Your 4runner looks great, really nice job on the full conversion.

Bumper

2010-2013 Toyota 4Runner Cover Front Bumper L P 52119-35910 | Grieco Toyota Parts

Everything in this link is what you will need.
Be aware that the trail fender moldings are different that the SR5 ones.

It will be black, just paint the part for the bumper that needs colour.

I suggest comparing SR5s to the trails in depth. You will see the differences, it may take a few times to see them all.

Sr5/trail

I know the bumpers appearances are different my question is does the trail bumper have the same clip placement as the sr5 ( is it a plug and play ) kinda situation? Just totaled the front bumper today drifting in the snow and don't have the money for a real "steel" bumper I found one on car parts. Com for 75.00 if it's plug n play I'll buy it immediately

Thanks in advance
