I recently bought a T4R 5th Gen and barely grabbed the handle and it came right out...I laughed pretty hard but now I'm in the same boat as you and definetly need replacements that use a bolt and nut instead of this clip nonsense.

Jeez! That's impressive... I wonder if that grab handle had been taken out for whatever reason before? Usually if they pop off that easily it's because someone installed them wrong?
The clip method is something Toyota has used for quite a while now, it's surprisingly robust for how "cheap" it looks; but if they aren't installed right they can be easy to pop out.
The clip needs to be mounted properly in the handle when you push it into the hole and then push the plastic plug. If they aren't installed right the plastic plug doesn't expand the clip, it just pushes it in and they pop off easily. (I end up having to strip out interiors at least a couple times a year for rodent vehicles, so you get used to these style of grab handles and their quirks).
As for the OP's statement... It already looks "OEM" because that's how it was designed? I actually like having a driver's side crab handle on my 4th gen. Tuesday I strained/pulled my Trapezius (SP?) on my right shoulder and could not lift my arm much let alone turn my head; that handle helped a ton to get in and out of the 4Runner yesterday while running to the doctor's office and the shop.
It's a nice thing for when you're a little lazy/tired to toss yourself into the seat. But if you're looking for a delete option, I'm not sure you'll find one?
