Q for Anyone with aftermarket steel bumpers

Looking to get the full offroad steel bumper kit from Coastal Offroad, and one thing that im concerned about seems to also be an issue with other front bumpers of this style.

My main concern is all the open space exposed on the left and right in front of the tires. Basically the entire front suspension is exposed as well as some other components in the engine bay. Has anyone had issues with road debris / small rocks or even just stuff from the guy in front of you on a gravel forest road?

I would imagine this stuff would constantly be pelting the front suspension.

Steel Front Bumper

Good morning, I have the Shrockworks front bumper and have put many uneventful miles on the gravel roads of rural Wisconsin and outside the DC area. Hope this helps in your decision.

Best,
Paul

I have Demello on mine and never had any problems following my friends doing high speed desert and gravel road runs.
The key is to pace yourself to leave enough space in front of you so you can see and have time to react.

Have had my front bumper on for close to 5 years and never noticed or taken any damage up front.

One thing to note is that your washer fluid reservoir may or may not be exposed to debris. Some bumpers come with a guard for this and some don't. I bent a small plate and bolted it into my pelfreybilt bumper. Some people relocate the bottle altogether as it becomes one of the lowest hanging objects up front.

Power steering lines are also somewhat exposed, but I never heard any issues. Maybe if youre doing some serious rock crawling...some companies sell skids/guards for both or you can relocate them

thanks good to know

I think I may relocate that reservoir and weld some additional plates in just for peace of mind
