When Did The 5th Gen Get LED Foglights?
I've been looking around to help my neighbor do some junkyard upgrades to her 5th gen. I've noticed that recent 5th Gens have LED factory fog lights - I've been searching and I've found conflicting information both here and on other sites as to when they started shipping.
The information I've found seems to indicate that LED fog lights first appeared as an option on 2019 TRD (Pro?) models, then became standard issue in 2020. Is this the case? Thanks in advance.

believe that is correct, think it was 2018 or 2019 for OEM led fog lights

Keep in mind there are reflector LED fogs that are now standard on every model. Then there are the “high performance “ projector LEDs that are now optional.

My 2020 has the projector fogs standard, so that’s likely what started with the 2019 Pros.
Not sure what year the reflector LED became standard.

When I bought my 2019 TRDOR LED fogs were an option. I decided to go with Baja SAE instead which was a great decision for a bit more $$$.

Factory installed LED fog lights for the 4Runner didn't happen until 2019 as others have said.
However, Toyota installed LED fogs on many other models well before then. I believe they were on many Lexus vehicles first, then Tundras and Camry.
The LED fogs at that time were the exact same mounting and electrical connector as the halogens, so they were "plug and play". I installed them on my 2018 4Runner. Here is a current source for them: GENUINE TOYOTA TUNDRA CT200h RX350 NX IS250/350 "LED" LEFT & RIGHT FOG LAMP SET | eBay

Is this just an LED thing? Or fog lights in general.
My 2015 had fogs.

Those are the reflector style fogs. I highly recommend getting the projector ones if you’re looking at OEM only. They’re not that much more.

But I prefer the latter because they are made in Japan, and the former is made in Mexico; I have heard of some reliability problems with the Mexico manufactured fog lights.

Strictly looking for the LED ones. The lady I'm helping out has a Limited which came with fog lights, I'm just looking to do some 'junkyard updates' for her since I have to get some parts for my own stuff at the junkyard anyway; while I'm there, might as well pick up stuff while I'm there, etc.

Go and get Baja lights. They are plug and play and they really up your lighting situation. If you live in an area that gets snow, I would recommend getting the amber lights since the LED lights have a tendency to disrupt depth perception. I love mine and they really throw out the light not only to the front, but to the sides as wel.

Sure, direct me to a junkyard where I can find those!
I am looking to get some cheap upgrades for her truck out of the junkyard. Dunno if you've noticed but money is tight for a lot of people.
