how does that video sharing work. does the tech upload the video to the cloud that only you can access and view from home. I've always gone on the shop floor with the techs but for people that drop off their vehicles this would be useful

I am currently dealing with the same issue on my 2018 with 40k miles. It is at the dealership now. Long story short I received the repair quote yesterday. They are wanting to replace the spring with part number 48131-35650.

When I checked that part number it covers all model 4Runners. Kind of strange. I called some other parts departments and was told basically they ran my vin and that is the spring it left Japan with. BUT the TRD Pros go to a upfitter in the USA where the pro stuff gets added. Long story short that spring is incorrect. I notified my service advisor of the error and he reassured me that it was "correct for my vin".

I’ve had two days of back-and-forth between Toyota USA, my local dealership, a few different parts departments, Bilstein manufacturing, and eibach manufacturing, turns out the only direct replacement available in the Toyota parts catalog is going to be the fox set up from the current generation Trd pro 4Runner.

Toyota has agreed to cover the cost of parts and I have to cover the cost of labor. I notified my service advisor again today that that is the incorrect spring and that I had contacted a guy in the parts department that also agrees. He searched the catalog and could not find a direct replacement. Parts Dept guy reached out to their "special" team SRR or something like that, and they were also stumped and supposedly researching the issue.

Seems Toyota has no idea how to repair a 5 year old 4Runner?

If they know anything about their product they would know exactly what you need, must be brain dead!

How does a spring just fall apart. You would think that as thick and dense as spring steel is, that it would be the last thing to rot on one of these cars….

Man that seems like such a headache. Are they trying to get you to foot the labor bill because it is slightly outside the warranty period? I assume it falls under the 36k bumper to bumper warranty.
