Could this be from my TRDP?
My friend found this in his driveway, where I parked for a couple of days. It looks like part of a spring. Upon more investigation, it does look like my passenger side is down 1/2". The "closer" version of the full spring is the passenger side.
Are the springs covered under extended warranty? I'm at 93K, but have a 125K warranty.

Anyone have this issue and replace the springs? What else do I need to replace at the same time, stress on "need to"?
Assuming not covered, do I replace with OEM springs or something else?
Thanks

I'd say that's 99% a rusty chunk off of a spring.

Owning nice cars in the east is a waste of money.

I've seen a few forum members post about the 5100 springs about rusting. Just replace with whatever spring you like , I'll probably replace my 5100s in a few years once I hit 75k miles or so

Springs I would imagine are considered consumables and not warrantied. 100k miles in the east? Expect more of this unless you really went to town with Wool Wax, Por 15, etc every year.

Would hate to see what the car's frame looks like underneath.

I disagree, I'd love to see it

I'd say that's about 5% of a TRD Pro spring...
I think they contracted Eibach for the springs? I could be wrong, but I'm sure you can find plenty of similar springs if you Google it?

Update...Both front springs are broken and missing pieces. Passenger side is sitting about 1/2" lower than driver side. They have to special order the parts because it is trd pro.

Me too
Found the same thing on my 15 TRD in my driveway about a year ago. Ended up having 2 broken springs. Toyota replaced them at no cost to me. Not sure if it was covered due to my extended warranty?

I feel for those who live in rust belt states. At our Montana place I’m driving a ‘99 Suburban K2500 4WD w/ 6.5 diesel. No rust and I really don’t worry about pin striping the paint when off-roading it.

Here's the inspection video from my dealer. It's my understanding that they are covered under my extended warranty, but they need special approval for the parts because they are TRD-Pro. Also, it was garaged at home from April '16 to Aug '20.

Glad they’re taking care of you. Also like how the dealerships are using videos to document any issues/condition of your car. Hopefully it won’t be too long of a wait before the new parts arrive.

I got the springs replaced yesterday. It's both the struts AND the springs, they come as a unit. Cost was $1979, but thank you extended warranty, my cost was zero.
