Looks like the Magnusson does make a bit of power down low but I was paying pretty close attention to the graphs and the promised 30% gain appears to be from 3-3.5k and up. It's worth noting the quote above that peak torque is at 4400 RPM. Again, this sounds like a sports-car/sedan (from 10 years ago before turbos) and not a truck.

Love, love that this is available. Just not 100% that this is for me. Anyone do an engine/tranny swap out of a GX460?
While I understand where your thought process is coming from - this idea that truck engines must make peak torque at super low RPMs is based on very very very old technology. This is from a time before VVT when you sized the camshaft the make peak torque at a very low RPM and then the engine runs out of breath shorty after and often makes less horsepower than torque because it doesn't even get to 5252 RPM.

Modern naturally aspirated gasoline TRUCK engines all make peak torque in the ~4k RPM range....

Chevy 5.3L V8 TRUCK engine - Peak torque @ 4,400 RPM

Ram 5.7L V8 TRUCK engine -
2003 - 2008 Ram 1500/2500/3500 - 375 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm
2009 - 2012 Ram 1500 - 407 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
2009 - current Ram 2500/3500 - 400 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
2013 - current Ram 1500 - 410 lb-ft @ 3,950 rpm

Ford 5.0L v8 TRUCK engine
2011 to 2014 Ford F-150 - 380 lb-ft @ 4,250 rpm
2015 - 2017 Ford F-150 - 387 lb-ft @ 3,850 rpm
2018+ Ford F-150 - 400 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm

With VVT, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder (All breathing mods) - these engines may not produce peak torque till ~4k RPM, BUT they make 80% of that peak torque through a majority of the curve. It's not like you have some massive jump in torque across the speed range (VTEC just kicked in bruh!)

Regarding the Magnusson supercharger - It does make additional torque in the ~2k RPM range. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time finding a dyno plot that starts lower than ~3k RPM and doesn't include the "load-up". Some dyno plots show the load up from not full load to full load which includes the engine changing timing and Cam Phase as well as the supercharger closing the bypass valve.

Looking at Tacomas with the M90 (different SC but similar flow) and our engine I am seeing ~2.5 psi boost @ 2k RPM and full ~6 psi boost @ 3.5k-4k RPM to redline. I am also seeing ~15% increase in torque at 2k RPM. As the testimony from several members who have the SC shows - this increase in torque (even if only ~30 ft-lbs) @ 2k RPM is providing enough to prevent the miserable 5th to 4th downshift at highway speeds when entering a grade.

From Magnuson "Most Toyota dealerships are very familiar with Magnuson as we were the Manufacturer of the Toyota TRD Supercharger therefore, they usually are good with warranties and installing as well."

Thank you for your review. Does your truck have the stock gear ratio as well?

CARB approval is pending for the new year ranges, but should be approved by end of summer.

I'm waiting for my Lime Rush PRO and was also waiting for Magnuson to release this SC. Now Waiting to hear from accessory manager to make this happen.

Anyone have a dyno chart at high elevation? 5k ft+? I'm moving to 7k next month and dreading the power loss. Also don't want to spend the money on the SC and find out it only gets me back to stock sea-level performance.

This is not a direct answer, but consider this....

A sup moves a fixed volume of air at a given rpm regardless of the density of the air....so you will have same volume of LESS dense air at altitude. Only fix is to spin it faster with a smaller pulley or increase engine rpm (which is not really an option).

this article talks about exactly what you are asking, i cant vouch for accuracy, but its on the internet, so it must be true

I am debating the same..... while altitude is not really an issue here in TN, I am trying to justify spending that much to make a slow vehicle...less slow. lol
Yes the highway gear hunting on grades is annoying and I often dont use cruise for that reason.

Weve had some customers do 4.56 or 4.88s with the same tire size and its like adding a second supercharger. Really rips! Glad to here that you have such good results in driveability with just the blower upgrade.

I live at 6500ft and have taken this thing up to 12000ft. I would say if you have the money "to spare" it is a great upgrade. If you will be pinching pennies to afford this it is not worth it. You will pay less in extra gas than in the upgrade. even with the supercharger, with my RTT and fully loaded I got 13.5mpg between CO and UT.

Would I personally do it again? Yes, but the net worth is relative to if you see the price as worth it or not.

Does anyone know if the Magnuson kit will play nice with the an S&B intake installed with the Magnuson canned tune? Of course officially says their tune is for the stock motor. Just curious whether anyone has experience with this potential setup.
