Wiper park position question
I’ll try asking here instead of General. Sorry for x-posting.
So I don't drive my 5th gen much, so the wipers haven't been used in months -- since the winter, really. Searching didn't seem to match my issue exactly.
Today it was raining, I turn on the wipers and they work just fine, but in the intermittent mode I noticed that they parked, or rested between swipes, in a slightly elevated position -- at first maybe a half inch higher than they normally do. They would complete the down swipe and then would travel up that half inch and stop. Then they would do the same, but stop an inch or two higher, then revert to first scenario after a swipe.
After 10-15 mins they returned to normal and now stop at the regular park location. No weirdness. I've noticed this a few times over the years (maybe a handful of times in 37k miles), but it never lasted more than one swipe. After I got home when this happened today I went out to the truck a couple of times to see if I can recreate this again, but they are working as normal.
So, is this somewhat normal for the park position sensor to bug out and re-adjust or is it being flaky for me and probably will need to be replaced?

My 2010 Tacoma did this and my 19 Runner does this as well. I think it just wigs out at times. They will bounce from the parked position just a tad but not always.

Mine does it often. Usually when I use the "mist" feature which only gives you the one wipe. Especially if you hit the stalk again by mistake. It's never been a real issue, per se, and it doesn't happen when I just turn the wipers on and let them do their own thing.

I know my rear wiper on my 21 T4R has both a resting and “stowed” position.

Yeah, I think using the mist function is when mine did that, too, but it seemed like a first with the intermittent setting on. Oh well, seems like it's normal for it to wig out like that once in a while.

If there’s a T4R owner on this forum that’s a psychiatrist, you might have just gave him the idea for a new OCD variant to diagnose and charge money for …

Joke's on you, because I've already been formally diagnosed with OCD.

Isn’t that one of the buttons on the overhead console?

A different vehicle we own did this. After sitting the Park position was off. After driving in the rain for 20 minutes it would start to act normal. Changed out the wiper motor to avoid any problems on the road.
Avoid cheap lifetime warranty wiper motors. On a variety of non Toyota vehicles I have bought the expensive or upper tier parts at Rockauto that ended up being the Oem part at a fraction of the dealer price. When in a hurry I shop at Napa.
