After much discussion and calmly explaining that I called ahead specifically to avoid such a scenario, the supervisor allowed me to complete the waiver form and have them installed. I was never argumentative or demeaning and made sure they realized I knew what I was doing and what can happen when changing to a different tire size. The fact that these were narrower than OEM helped alleviate the argument that they would rub or cause other clearance issues.

Clackamas! In his defense, the supervisor was a decent guy. He fell back to reciting Costco policy a few times, but overall listened to what I had to say. I totally get it from their side - liability concerns and he's not interested in losing his job over something so insignificant.
